Background
This two –years, full time MBA course is a domain specific course which concentrates on preparing the students to enter the pharma sector. After graduation students join the pharmaceuticals industry, some also join consultancy companies. Some of our graduates are working in international assignments in Brazil, Singapore and Basle.
This programme is six-years old. MBA, Pharmaceuticals Management is received well by the industry.
Listening to stakeholders
Listening to stakeholders is a very important course that ensures that every student spends one-full day every week in the field gathering information and another half day per week is spent in analytics. The main focus of this course is to prepare students so that they may join the pharmaceutical industry as a Management Trainee upon graduation and compete with the best and the brightest in any institute of management. This course concentrates on Economics and law, (laws related to pricing and other drug industry related laws, on IPR,) Production systems, Good Manufacturing Practices, Quality Assurance, Finance, Sales and Marketing, Good Marketing Practices, Costing & Accounting, H.R. Practices in Pharmaceuticals, Strategic Procurement in Pharma, supply chain and distribution practices. One foreign-language like Mandarin and/ or Chinese is compulsory. International Marketing, Managing R & D in Pharmaceuticals, Strategic Brand Management, Communication, Pricing and Pharmaceuticals Promotion are taught in this course. This is arguably one of the most rigorous MBA courses in our country. The main differentiator in this course is to have industry and academics work closely in both selecting candidates. This is the only MBA Programme where every student has to work for six months on a Brand Dissertation. Apart from this, every student has to select one foreign language: Mandarin (Chinese) or Spanish.
Summer Assignments
We place all students with pharma companies and/or consultancy firms for two months in summer. Based on industry evaluation of the student, each student is further “guided” and “counseled” to improve his / her key strengths. This is based on what “feedback” the industry and consultancy companies provide to us.
Full-time assignments
The following companies have selected students from our MBA Programme: Abbott, AIOCD, ACG Worldwide, Alembic, Alkem, Bayer, Biocon, Boehringer Ingelheim, Dr. Reddy’s, Eisai Pharma, GSK, IMS Health, Indegene, Infosys, Macleods, Novo-Nordisk, Pfizer, Ranbaxy, Sun Pharma, Torrent Pharma, Vergo Pharma, Zydus Cadila, Microlabs, MSD (India), Novartis, Astra Zeneca, Allergan, Genzyme, and USV Limited.

Message from Dr. Tarun Gupta
Welcome to NMIMS.
We have had great support from you for the last six years, without which we could not have achieved 100% placement, even last year. Not just this but your continued help on being on our Board of studies, listening to dissertation presentations and helping us select candidates for admission to MBA Pharmaceuticals Management are most gratefully acknowledged here. It is your continued support that is a source of satisfaction for us. We believe that in times of academic rigour and fieldwork, our students rank among the very best in our country. We have information now that six of our graduates are already in international assignments in Singapore, Basle and in Brazil.
This year we have used cases more extensively from Harvard which students have enjoyed discussing in class. This should help their insights in problem solving in the future.
I look forward to welcoming you personally when you come.
