Commits Institute of Journalism and Mass Communication
Commits was set up as a postgraduate media and communications institute in Bangalore, and inaugurated by then Governor of Karnataka, Smt Rama Devi, in August 2001. Its objective is to enable students to position themselves as multiskilled and multifaceted media professionals.
In a span of little over a decade Commits has emerged as one of the top five communication colleges at the postgraduate level in India, offering a bouquet of cutting-edge courses across the media spectrum. Commits does not advertise or promote itself in the media heavily as most other educational institutions do, but believes in word-of-mouth publicity and its own students as its brand ambassadors.
Commits is a small institute with a big reputation. The emphasis is on all-round development, where theory and practice are given equal weightage; where academics and industry-work go hand-in-hand; where teachers are also professionals and professionals are teachers. At Commits the students are not just taught, they are given an experience, which changes them into better professionals and mature human beings.
Excellence is not a goal at Commits, it is a way of life. A dream combination of committed and experienced in-house faculty, a unique and practical syllabus and tie-up with media industry for teaching, training and recruitment, makes every student industry-ready. Course delivery is a judicious mix of self-study, seminar, classroom teaching and practical methodologies.
Commits’ future plans include multiple academic programmes with specific industry focus, tie-ups with leading global academic institutions and a state-of-the-art media lab.
Commits is not just another college; Commits is an experience!
