Here we have a chaat that combines the pungent and sweet flavours usually associated with chaats, with the cooling, creamy sensation of yoghurt. In dahi batata puri, we have a lip-smacking combination of the crackly fried puris, spicy boiled and diced potatoes with a generous topping of green mint chutney, sweet and sour tamarind chutney, delicately spiced with chilli powder, cumin seed powder and black salt. Over all this is sprinkled the crisp sev and then comes a dribble of delicious chilled beaten yoghurt. Suddenly, just when your tongue is absorbing the tangy, sweet and sour taste, there is a wash of wonderfully rich and soothing yoghurt. Not just the taste but the sensation in your mouth of the crispness of the puri, the sharpness of the sauces and then the creaminess of the yoghurt can transport you to culinary heaven!

Priya's Rasoi Ghar
I have loved cooking from a very early age and learnt from my mother, those little secrets that are passed on from generation to generation. After marriage, I learnt a few more tips from my husband’s family, adding to my repertoire of culinary magic. My husband’s family being Gujarati opened my world to north Indian cuisine, which I’ve cherished cooking for over 25 years now!
Every dish I have made is never by blindly following a recipe. It has always been a labour of love, carefully thought out and incorporating subtle changes to enhance the taste and flavor. In all these years, I have experimented with various cuisines, Indian, of course, but also Chinese, Mexican and Italian, to name a few. Besides the main course dishes, I’ve specialized in chocolates and exotic desserts.
This venture is a culmination of delighting family and friends with interesting and delicious preparations. After much coaxing from them, I have decided to share my culinary secrets with those who see cooking as an art and wish to excel at it.
