Direction for Film + TV Course
by Annapurna International School of Film and Media (AISFM)Hyderabad |
| Medium of instruction: | English |
This course introduces aspiring directors to the craft of film-making and the art of visual narrative. Additionally, this course will prepare the students to work as assistant directors at a professional level and to enter their first jobs in the film and television industry.
The National Skill Development Corporation report into training requirements for the media industry noted that “Film and Television Direction” was a key area in which India would face a skill shortage in the next decade.
Sounds strange, doesn’t it?
So many people want to direct films, yet there is a shortage of film directors. The reason for this is the lack of quality filmmaking courses in India. Film and television direction is a highly specialized and technical field, requiring knowledge of every aspect of the filmmaking process. Without proper training, it is difficult for aspiring directors to ever move beyond assistant positions. But where can prospective directors go for this training?
The answer is AISFM.
After taking significant input from the many leading filmmakers who serve on our Academic Advisory Board, AISFM has developed a ground-breaking film direction course, “Intro to Direction for Film & TV,” to help reduce the shortage of trained directors.
This ten-week film direction course starts with the basics of film grammar and scripts, then moves onto the larger picture of communicating with technicians, script breakdown and getting familiar with an AD’s responsibility. The objective of the course is to train our students to be fantastic assistant directors, which in turn is a great path to learning to direct films.
AISFM is proud to have legends like Karan Johar, Farah Khan, Anurag Kashyap, Mani Rathnam and Kamal Hasan on our Advisory Board, film expert and Founding Dean of Whistling Woods Kurt Inderbitzin as our CEO, and Nagarjuna himself as our President. This incredible team ensures that our film direction course is built around a great curriculum which in turn builds and maintains our reputation as one of the premier film institutes in India and the world.
