B. Tech in Information Technology

BCREC takes special care to give appropriate emphasis on foundations in computer science and engineering, communications systems, information systems design, analysis, development and management and internet working. The state-of-the-art Central Computer Center in BCREC supports students to have professional competence in applications covering hardware, software services and supporting infrastructure for managing and delivering information using text, voice and video data.

In addition students are assigned semester projects covering applications in internet and internet working, multimedia, web technology and e-commerce. They are encouraged to participate actively in seminars, group discussion and personality development. Further, students are given assignments on challenging programming contests. They are exposed to GATE/GRE type objective questions. The department has started an IT Forum for students to organize symposia, seminars and guest lectures on regular basis. They are encouraged to form study circles with students having common interest and help each other through self-study and discussion.

Mission of IT: To impart high quality technological education in order to mould the learners into globally competitive technocrats who are professionally deft, intellectually adept and socially responsible.

The department strives to make the learners inculcate and imbibe pragmatic perception and proactive nature so as to enable them to acquire a vision for exploration in the area of technological transfer, quality of knowledge and an insight for advanced enquiry. To offer high quality graduate and post graduate programs in information technology education and to prepare students for professional career or higher studies. The faculty members and staff to pool up their experiences in teaching, research and industry to enable the students to have both theoretical concepts and practical problem solving abilities. This will facilitate the students to be absorbed by industry, research and teaching institutes as successful workforce or encourage entrepreneurship through open innovation.

Dr. B.C. Roy Engineering College, Durgapur, popularly known as BCREC, was set up on 21st August, 2000, under the over all management of Dr. B.C. Roy Engineering College Society. Dr. B.C. Roy Engineering College, Durgapur was affiliated to the University of Burdwan for the students admitted in 2000-01 session. But from 2001-2002 session onwards the college was affiliated to the West Bengal University of Technology (WBUT). The college is approved by both All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE), Directorate of Technical Education (DTE) and Department of Higher Education, Govt. of West Bengal. All the courses offered conform to the latest requirements and syllabus is structured by WBUT.
