First two Semesters to be 18 weeks each and the rest of the four semesters to be 21 weeks of instruction with 40 hours per week of primary and secondary contact time, self study and evaluation.

Semester I

The 18 weeks of Semester I give students a basic understanding of Media and its various avatars. Students receive instruction through classroom theoretical instruction, screenings analysis, workshops and interactions with global filmmakers.

This semester develops within students an understanding of the terrain of Media and how filmmaking is situated within it. The course also promotes individual professional conduct, communication skills and leadership qualities.

SEMESTER I COURSE STRUCTURE:

  1. Theater and its Evolution
  2. Introduction to Communication Theories
  3. Media and Culture
  4. Still Photography and Visual Communication
  5. History of Art

Semester II

This semester develops within students a more nuanced understanding of the art and business of filmmaking. This semester prepares them for the next two years of immersive filmmaking experience.

The course also promotes individual professional conduct, communication skills and leadership qualities.

SEMESTER II COURSE STRUCTURE:

  1. Fundamentals of Marketing
  2. Fundamentals of Management
  3. Introduction to Cinema – its Apparatus and Aesthetics
  4. Introduction to Brand Management
  5. Experiential Communication

Semester III: Film Foundation Semester

The 21 week Film Foundation Semester immerses participating students in each filmmaking craft. Students receive instruction through a powerful integration of student productions, classroom theoretical instruction, motion picture screenings analysis, workshops and interactions with global filmmakers. Students both do and study screenwriting, producing, directing, acting, cinematography, editing, sound design, film appreciation, production design, the aesthetic use of music in productions, literature, art history and cinema studies.

The film foundation semester develops within students their own unique story development and filmmaking perspectives and vision. The course also promotes individual professional conduct, communication skills and leadership qualities.

SEMESTER III COURSE STRUCTURE:

  1. Basics of Production
  2. Basics of Post Production
  3. Contextual Studies
  4. My First Project (Practical)
  5. Foundation Film (Practical)

Specialization (Semesters IV through VI):

Students come into their specialization after the intensive, 21 week Foundation program. Each department has a unique curriculum aimed at advancing student learning in the most appropriate manner. Students are in their respective departments for the rest of the course.

During the specialization the classes will be a mixture of lecture-demonstrations, workshops and hands on practical. Students are involved in many individual and coordinated projects.

  3. Elective (Theory): Each student chooses ONE of the following
    • Producing
    • Direction
    • Cinematography
    • Editing
    • Sound Design
  4. Elective (Practical): Each student chooses ONE of the following
    • Producing
    • Direction
    • Cinematography
    • Editing
    • Sound Design
  5. Mise-en-Scene Film (Practical)

SEMESTER V COURSE STRUCTURE:

  1. Culture and Media Studies II
  2. Film Appreciation II
  3. Elective (Theory): Each student chooses ONE of the following
    • Producing
    • Direction
    • Cinematography
    • Editing
    • Sound Design
  4. Elective (Practical): Each student chooses ONE of the following
    • Producing
    • Direction
    • Cinematography
    • Editing
    • Sound Design
  5. Workshops (HD and 16mm) (Practical)

SEMESTER IV COURSE STRUCTURE:

  1. Culture and Media Studies III
  2. Film Appreciation III

  4. Dissertation (Practical)
