About Course Provider

City Pulse Institute of Film & Television

City Pulse, a cultural campus, was conceived fifteen years ago, to provide a platform for true connoisseurs of the arts to appreciate performers and performances in a manner not usually experienced elsewhere. A place, where along with other performing arts, cinema too shall be perceived as a live, interactive medium rather than a passive, mass entertainer.

Pioneering Multiplex Culture

Being the very first to usher in multiplexes in the country, City Pulse revolutionised the premise of cinema-viewing and redefined outdoor entertainment in India. It paved the way for similar projects elsewhere, and it became the norm countrywide. However, it did not sacrifice its founding ideals of promoting the arts at the altar of commerce - be it hosting a French film festival or lending its gallery to aspiring artists and refraining from leasing its space commercially, as per the prevailing trend. In the process, City Pulse has remained an isle of sophistication and refinement that has, time and again, drawn the best talent in classical music and regaled audiences with grass under the feet, stars over the head, with a special rapport with artistes that emerges only in small, intimate gatherings.

In time, City Pulse grew to include an amphitheatre, a concert hall, a studio, an art gallery, a pavilion, a teaching block, a bookstore and even a discotheque; creating an infrastructure like none other in the country. This unique infrastructure has been appreciated by a galaxy of eminent artists, performers, stars and maestros.

A Platform for Performing Arts

Given all this, it was, but natural, for City Pulse to evolve further into something in synchrony with its ethos of art refinement. And what better progression than as a nurturing ground for the very celluloid arts that spurred its own growth. It already had a teaching establishment for the performing arts viz. Hindustani Classical music (both vocal & Instrumental), Classical Dance & Theatre. City Pulse has applied for a Television Channel (Cultural), which is under process. Perceiving the need for proper training in visual arts medium and foreseeing the scope for qualified technicians and talented artists in the field, establishing an educational institute was thought of.

With the wider objectives of giving proper training in the areas of Film Making, Performing Arts & other Visual Arts, a trust titled City Pulse Educational Charitable Trust (Regd) was formed with the help of City Pulse Media (I) Ltd. Ahmedabad. The Trust then established the City Pulse Institute of Film & Television which has planned to offer Bachelors degree & Masters degree courses in various discipline of Film making, first time in India.

(Presently all other institutes are only offering Diplomas in Film Making).

The Hemchandracharya North Gujarat University, NAAC Accredited 'B' (CGPA) State University, Patan granted the affiliation to the Institute for Bachelors degree Course in Acting and Masters degree Courses in Direction, Cinematography, Audiography, Scriptwriting, Editing, Production Design & Production Management.

Gujarat has had a reputation of being receptive to new academic concepts, out of which have emerged several well-known institutes; including IIM, NID, CEPT, School of Architecture, Saptak School of Classical Music, Darpana Academy and Kadamb School of Kathak, to name some. Given this fact, Gandhinagar is a fitting place to set up such an institute; where a conducive atmosphere for creative stimulus and intellectual growth is possible. Another aspect that aided this decision was that, there is no other such institute in this region and across northern and central India.
