Hua Chuan originated from shaolin kung fu. It was first taught by Feng Chi Gan during Yunzheng period, Qing Dynasty.
Its founder was Hua Wei Chuan , who was born and brought up in the province of Canton (Guandong). He achieved his training from the legendry Shaolin temple, which was well known and feared for the skills imparted to the students in martial arts of exceptional quality.
After completing his training, Hua Wei Chuan found the training too vigorous and the application of the skills very rigid. On his journey, while resting in a cave he observed the demise of the giant oak tree in front of the willow.
He discovered and created the art of soft and hard style (Flowery Hand) with the concept of yin and yang, added the flexibility with soft smooth well connected movement techniques, executed with lightening speed and powerful stances, steady as a rock with deep breath to spread air flow throughout the body similar to tai-chi.
He found this art and named it “Flowery Fist” or “Neutralizing Fist” which also means Hua Chuan Kung Fu.
