Educational Aims
M Eng. degree scheme in Computer System Engineering of various subjects required for a practical Computer System engineer. The overall aim is to equip graduation with a sound foundation in the essentials of engineering sciences, together with a deeper capability in their computer system engineering specialisation, so that they acquire characteristics of future leaders of the engineering professions.

The Computer System Engineering M Eng. programme consists of courses drawn from the various departments in the Lancaster University. During the four year programme students are expected to have covered all the important areas of Computer System Engineering & associated disciplines.

Learning Outcomes:
Students will be able to acquire the following skills on completion of programme:-

Intellectual Skills

  • Flexible structure to students specialization in Hardware or Software

  • Able to select and apply appropriate mathematical methods and principles of engineering sciences to model & analyze engineering situations

  • Select & apply appropriate computer based methods to model and analyze engineering situations

  • Analyze existing engineering systems and create new systems through synthesis of ideas from a range of sources

  • Undertake projects management task and carrying financial appraisal of engineering projects

  • Apply engineering knowledge and understanding to design system, component or process to meet a need.

  • State- of- the art information and communication technologies

Practical Skills

  • Enable to carryout Embedded Systems,DCS,Real Time System, Microsystems

  • Various options to carryout Group Design Projects, Smart Sensors, System on-Chip Technology, design for communication and embedded applications

  • Use engineering IT tools, including writing computer programme

  • Test design ideas in the lab or through simulation with analysis and critical evaluation of results

  • Use creativity and innovation in dealing with engineering situations

Transferable Skills

  • To focus on applications in design of Computer Hardware and application engineering using Embedded processes

  • The real time projects from industry and academia
