Study of precious and semiprecious metals like gold, sliver, copper, brass etc, & their various properties and use in jewellery. Problems & various caution points with metals.
Different kinds of process and texture possible (filgre engraving etc).
Study Different Carat (Fineness) and colours of gold like 22 ct, 14ct and Yellow, Pink, Green, Purple.
JED : 115 - Gemmology
Introduction to the world of gemstones. Detailed information on popular precious and semiprecious stones used in jewellery. Shapes, Size and cuts of Gemstones in details Gem identification on the basis of colour, inclusion (Sight identification)
Specific gravity etc and instrumentation, using regract meter,magnification and various test.
Detailed study of Diamond & Its various colours, grades qualities and properties. Practical sessions throughout.
JED : 116 - Manufacturing & Processing
Information of various raw materials, tools, equipment & machinery involved & their sources. Handmade & Machine made jewellery processing in equipment & machinery involved & their sources

Theme collections, Sates, Competitions Participation criteria& Winning strategies Event oriented collection etc., Annual Design Project It is mandatory to complete final design project which comprises of illustration, research, Photoshoot and final show a separate amount shall be paid for the same.
JED : 120 - Examination, submission of Project
Note
60% of the course comprises practical training, and hence is highly job oriented. There will be regular assignments to facilitate self evaluation Group discussions and visits to actual sites of workplace will be a regular feature of the course.
