GII has designed a course of Jewellery Designing taking into account the need for the Indian Jewellery Industry. The course is totally oriented for a newcomer to the designing field. The course contains, introduction to creativity and designing, counter sketching, drawing of various cuts, rendering of cuts and cabochons, introduction to various gemstones, various textures of gold, metal rendering, settings, basic views such as front and side views of rings, bracelets, pendants, necklace; designs for the major markets, general concepts of jewellery manufacturing. Project work includes preparation of portfolio and presentation. GII teaches you from the very basic concepts to ensure a successful career as a Jewellery Designer.

Gemmological Institute of India is a non-profit Public Charitable Trust established in the year 1971 by the Gem & Jewellery Exporters’ Association. GII an independent and impartial institution is the pioneer in the field of Gemmology in the Country.
Gemmological Institute of India in its journey since 1971 have kindled the light of knowledge in the field of Gemmology, Diamond Grading and Jewellery Designing amongst the gem trade and industry in India and also amongst the general public.
GII is the only gem & diamond testing laboratory in Mumbai which is established by the Industry, for the promotion, propagation and development of the science of gemstones and research studies in India.
The Gemmological Institute of India is a project of the Gem & Jewellery Export Promotion Council (GJEPC), Ministry of Commerce & Industry, Government of India and co-sponsored by Bharat Diamond Bourse (BDB) ,Diamond Exporters’ Association Limited (DEAL) and Gem & Jewellery Exporters’ Association (GJEA).
GII is the only Gem Testing Laboratory in the country which has the coveted recognition as a SIRO (Scientific Industrial Research Organization) Laboratory by the Department of Science and Technology, Government of India in the field of Gemmology.
