Globalization has brought the world closer with the increase in international trade and commerce. Countries are witnessing interdependence and interaction among each other. With this there is increasing participation and involvement of countries and greater access to their domestic economies. The implication of the same on the Legal profession is immense and the role of Legal Professionals is changing. The services provided by Legal Professionals are increasingly seen to have grown in the Legal Sector. In this scenario the need for business Legal Professionals is tremendous. Law firms, In-house Corporate Counsel, Individual Legal professionals are in demand. Legal education supplemented with awareness to Management / business perspective is the need of the day.
Competitive markets, demanding clients and global markets present new challenges as well as new opportunities to legal professionals today. These professionals must be competent to provide the range of skills and expertise needed to succeed in the environment. Due to the involvement and interaction of the legal, commercial and compliance department in day to day affairs, many a time companies seek reliance on business views of their legal counsel. An understanding of business operations, and the ability to make critical recommendations about likely risk to the business, is required.
In these times, without a business educational background, even an experienced legal professional may find it difficult to provide appropriate advice which makes business sense.
The massive upheaval in the global economy mergers and acquisitions, the introduction of financial regulators, have dramatically complicated businesses and created new challenges and thereby changed the role of corporate and in-house counsel.
After discussions it has been revealed that there are a number of business areas where legal professionals need some training. This program will enable students to address many business related legal issues that they could face in their legal practice, corporate jobs, public sector governance, consulting investment banking, entrepreneurship, and many other careers. Thus the need for management education for legal professionals has arisen.

In today's dynamic world, it has become imperative for businesses to seek legal advice before implementing any business decisions. In the new age of commercialization the role of the Legal Professionals has changed. With increase in regulations and regulatory authorities, legal and compliance departments have become de-rigueur for most large corporations either statutorily or by sheer necessity.
Legal Professionals need to be able to communicate effectively with the people they are working for. Clients also expect them to understand their core business and accordingly advice. Lawyers' advice now reflects increasingly complex business decisions considering the huge sums at stake in cases of litigation or insolvency. Lawyers are expected to be more like business advisers to their clients. It is essential that they can hold their own in a meeting with accountants and business advisers.Chartered accountants and Company secretaries, the other regulatory/compliance professionals also play a major role in the success of a Company.
The role that persons from the Legal profession render has always been significant. It has therefore becoming imperative for persons in the legal profession to develop a birds eye view of businesses and their functions to be able to remain competitive.
