The art of animation, a creative field dominated by the West, now has India running as one of the most serious contenders. Animation in India has come a long way with Indian animations catering to the needs of several private and public sectors.

Animation is one of the fastest growing and high paying career options in the world today. The demand for animators has increased to a great extent due to fast-paced developments in the sectors like high-tech digital media and 3D animation. Thus the scope for students of animation is huge in the context of the emerging Indian market.

Government support is crucial to the growth of any industry, more so for the nascent animation and gaming sector in India. Looking at the figures stated by NASCOMM about the requirement of Good quality Animators & multimedia Professionals, Government has shown a keen interest in upbringing Animation Education in the state & the country. Thus, to boost up the confidence of students & their parents in this lucrative & ever growing Industry, government has started encouraging education in Animation through offering degree programs.

In India degree program is the most reliable & necessary route our youngsters take in order to be called employable. A formal training can be of great help for acquiring the technical skills required for this field. Many colleges and private institutes provide diploma & professional programs in Animation. But Animation Studios across the world have always had one complain: The students, who come out of the academic institutions, either do not have a strong fundamental understanding due to lack of focus on academics or on the other hand they are not well versed with Industry Project requirements.

The MEDIA design & ANIMATION industries need designers with innovative and original ideas, who are able to work with a range of processes and work flows, who understand, and are able to respond to the exciting demands of the professional industry covering the entire spectrum of Animation i.e. Pre-Production, Production & Post Production, in addition to this student should also know the entire development work that revolves around the Animation process i.e. Print, Electronic, as well as web media to promote the Animation work that he/she has done.

As the Media Graphic & Animation industry are creative industries which respond to the impact of digital technologies; animation has quickly become an exciting focal point for people who wish to combine their ability to draw and to create images, with new, very accessible technology in order to push their ideas and creativity further by using movement and sound.

Program Information

Dr. Baba Saheb Ambedkar Open University took notice of it & worked upon taking a special care, of that concern of studios. What emerged is a specialized Animation Degree (Bachelors) program, India’s first special Degree program in Animation – Bachelors in Media Graphics & Animation. This program will run exclusively at Xplora Design Skool the recognized study center of BAOU.

This Degree program will be given along with Xplora’s SPLL program thus a student will get both a degree through University and a Job through Xplora’s SPLL program. Announcing the fun way of learning animation concepts with an interesting & exciting college life.
