What will you learn from this course?
1. See the subject. To see is more than looking and to become a photographer one must know to see the world around.
2. Understand the limitations of a camera and human eye. Yes, the way you see a subject may not appear in a photograph. Why is this ?. And how to make your camera work for you.
3. Make photos. Making a photo is a process and taking a photo is an accident. Good photos happen with imagination, planning and understanding the equipments.
4. Use your camera & lenses most effectively. Camera & lenses are the tools that convert your imagination in to a photograph. Understanding the camera and its controls are most important to make photography meaningful.
5. Appreciate the light around. Of the most important elements of photography, light is very special and learning to understand the natural light variations and artificial light and making it to work is important for a good photographer.
6. Understand the basic controls of photography. The aperture, shutter speed and exposure controls are important to get your picture technically good. You will be learning all these in detail to make a creative photograph.
7. Compose a fine photo. The aesthetics of the art – photography comes through finer compositions. Understanding the principles of composition in detail to make a picture tell a story or atleast make it look beautiful. The vision psychology, pattern of our seeing, exploiting the shape, form, texture, colour, lines, geometry etc. are important to make your photo far different and meaningful from others.
8. Shooting people – Portrait photography - Natural light Portraits – Window light portraits - Use of reflectors – fill in flash using portable speed lights
9. Studio lighting techniques and correction techniques – Understanding studio digital flash lights and accessories. Studio portraits (Study to take pictures of people beautifully. Plus, how to make anyone look great!. Studio Portrait lighting styles and correction techniques in detail) – model portfolio shooting - out door portraits using studio flash – a detailed study.
10. Press photography & photojournalism – Shooting editorial, news, photo feature and photo essays for press and media. How to anticipate life’s drama, and how to be on the spot when they happen?.
11. Macro Photography – outdoor and indoor subjects - extension tubes - flash extension cables, Ring flashes.
12. Location photography - Panorama – HDR – perspective correction
13. Contemporary Wedding/Event photography – the new trend in shooting weddings in a photojournalistic style
14. Image correction – Camera RAW and light-room techniques.
15. How to set up your own photography business? How to maximize your income? Marketing your services. Selling to photo-libraries, plus calendars, postcards and screen savers. Filing systems and care of your material. Tips from the professional photographers through guest lectures and workshops.

Prerequisites: The students seeking admission to this professional photography course must have passion and attitude to learn photography. They must be committed and hardworking. They must possess a DSLR camera, lenses ranging from 18mm to 200mm, a portable flash and a laptop (Dual core processor, 3GB or more RAM, discrete graphic card with 512mb or more GRAM).
Duration: 15 Months (Tuesday to Friday)
