These programmes are conducted for the medium and small scale industries at an affordable price. These programmes are conducted in Chennai and in various Districts of Tamilnadu. Faculty

All our faculties are trained in various Japanese Management techniques in Japan. Industries and Japan Management Centres.

Having served minimum 20 years in Indian industries and imparted training on ‘workplace improvement methods’ in various industries and management centres, also implemented many workplace improvement methods in various Indian industries.

International Experience:

Visited many countries for self development, to study the work ethics, the production and service system in various industries / enterprises. Also imparted training and implemented workplace improvement methods in various countries.

Company In-House Programme:

The centre can send a suitable faculty to the factory and conduct the training program based on the factory management requirements. The travel cost, accommodation and local transport shall be provided by the factory management to the faculty in addition to the faculty fee. In the case of small scale industries, the faculty fee is negotiable, to patronize and encourage small scale industries to follow Japanese management techniques successfully.

Centre Programme

The centre is also organizing regular Training Programmes on various techniques according to the training calendar, and the information will be sent to all the industries / enterprises well in advance to collect nominations.

Survey, Solutions And Implementation

The experts / consultants will visit the industries / enterprises, to study / survey the workplace operating system and provide solutions (report) to improve the work procedures using Japanese Management Techniques. Also the expert will implement the suitable Japanese management techniques, to improve the productivity and quality of the product / service.

5S ACTIVITIES:

1. Conducting annual ABK AOTS – CUMI "5S" Award Competition of Best 5S Practices for the Medium and Small Scale Industries in Tamilnadu

• 4. Conducting annual "TPM" Award Competition for Effective Implementation of TPM Practices in the Medium and Small Scale Industries in Tamilnadu.

• 5. Regularly conducting Audit and Implementation in Various industries in Tamilnadu for their shop floor improvement through 5S.

• 6. Created the AOTS Alumni "5S" Forum of India to make 5S activity a National Activity through AOTS and FAAAI.

Our History

It was in the year 1969, I (the Founder Chairman of ABK AOTS DOSOKAI ) I came to know about ABK Alumni Scholarship through my friend Dileep who went to Japan as an HINDU HITACHI SCHOLAR.

I applied and my application was rejected in the years 1969, 1970 and in 1971 my application with a strong recommendation from my teacher Mr. K. Kumagai saw me through to Japan.

After going to Japan, I found, from various parts of India, ABK has been accepting Alumni Scholars and there were 11 Alumni centers at that time. I was surprised to see that Tamilnadu did not have an Alumni Center and so there were none from Tamilnadu. At that time Dr. Jagannath Rao, an UN expert, was staying in ABK and Dr. Jagannath Rao from Karnataka not only helped me in getting into TOA Harbour Works as a Trainee because of his contacts, and also helped me in formulating the Idea of starting our center in Tamilnadu. My friend Kumagai stood with me every inch, to convince ABK, Secretary General Mr. Ogiso Yu that Tamilnadu needs an alumni center and I can be trusted with the responsibility of starting this Center.

I came back and looked for some of the already returned trainees, visited them personally and called them to be in. Some of them came forward and ABK was also was kind enough to get a few more Alumni Scholarship through TOA Harbour Works so that a minimum required 7 numbers can be met.

Since I was enthused, I took every Japanese person I met in Chennai to my residence and my entire family stood behind me in taking care of them and entertaining them. With no mineral water supply in those days, we used to boil plenty of water and always keep them in the fridge as I used to get Japanese guest any time. Our friend Miyahara San and His wife Keiko were great source of inspiration, collecting a lot of children story books and sending to us, coming and staying with us, to make my family also understand the friendship of Japanese people.

Once we started this Alumni group, the next question was how do we meet the finances. The Membership fee at that time was Rupees. 2 /- per month only to make people feel that they were a part of the organization. The question before many such voluntary activities is always is it money or activity which has to be taken care of first?

We knew that money was not going to come easily. We also knew activities cannot wait for money. Above all people should feel that we exist. So we decided to start our activities from a known area, which will not need money, but will need efforts.

I started teaching Spoken Japanese Language in 1974 first time and this was done free with out receiving any money as a teacher but putting the money for Alumni activities (only regular meetings of the few members which are as important as any other activity), I am very happy to say that this tradition still continues in our Alumni Society where in today our Japanese School had registered, 580 students as on date and all the 39 teachers teach free, with out taking any salary from the center. This service by all of them has enabled us not only to survive but also offer Japanese Language education at unbeatable price to any one and every one at an affordable price. As a matter of fact we have also taken a few students from economically backward strata as free students. The Center also was successful to place most of our Students with Colleges and Universities as faculties and with IT companies as Japanese translators.

I was elated when I was bestowed with the Highest Civilian award of the Japanese Government "The Order of Rising Sun Gold & Silver Rays", on 6th July 2005. This award was made possible only by the continual support of one and all.
