This course has been specifically designed for those who are keen on learning more about advanced setting techniques that can be applied to any type of precious stones or metals.
Entry Level: Basic knowledge of stone setting
Micro Pave is the technique of setting several, incredibly small, round, brilliant cut diamonds close together that leaves little metal visible on a mounting thereby creating lots of sparkle. Micro Pave setters must demonstrate their skill not only in their use of a microscope, but also in the ability to hand-carve each individual microscopic setting
This course is designed to provide in-depth hands-on knowledge on professional stone setting techniques. The innovative and refined setting techniques taught in this class can dramatically improve craftsmanship, reduce fragile stone breakage, and build a substantially rewarding future as a top bench jeweller. This is an intense course for jewellers where new concepts, tools, and techniques are revealed every day.
The Microscope Setting
Students use a combination of a microscope and various hand-created implements combined with setting procedures gathered from around the world to achieve superior end results.

Indian Institute of Jewellery (IIJ) is Asia Pacific's premier autonomous Institute that offers international standard education in Jewellery Manufacturing, Design, CAD, Gemmology, Jewellery Retail and Business. Backed by Modern India Enterprise, IIJ is a leading professional institute, recognized and accepted by the jewellery Industry for quality training, state-of-the art infrastructure and industry-relevant curriculum.
When IIJ first opened its doors in 2004, it had only one program - the Master Creator®- Jewellery Manufacturing Program and since then has introduced several other jewellery education programs in its curriculum.
Indian Institute of Jewellery is also a technical collaborator for two programs - Diploma in Jewellery Design Management (DJDM) and Post Graduate Diploma in Jewellery Management (PGDJM) that it offers with the Garware Institute of Career and Education Development (GICED), University of Mumbai. Vinaya, an educational summit and amongst the country's largest, has been created with a specific purpose - to professionalize and educate the industry in order to maintain world class standards for all related business operations. Vinaya's aim is to promote the Indian gems and jewellery industry by emphasizing the need for education and professionalization.
IIJ has also been recognized as a National Vocational Training Provider (VTP) for the Gems and Jewellery Industry by the Ministry of Labour and Employment, Directorate General of Employment & Training (DGET), Regional Directorate of Apprenticeship Training for the Western Region under the Skill Development Scheme (SDIS) based on Modular employable skills by the Government of India.
