SBI Bank conducts offline written examinations for selection of PO & Clerk. The age of the candidate should be between 21 to 30 years to apply for SBI PO Vacancies & 18 to 28 years to apply for SBI Clerk Vacancies. Candidate should have graduation degree in any discipline from a recognized University or any equivalent qualification recognized as such by the central government for SBI PO. For SBI Clerk candidate must have passed the 12th Class with at least 60% marks for general candidates and 55% marks for SC/ST/EXSM/PWD candidates or graduation degree in any disciplines from a recognized university in India. Basic Computer knowledge (6 Months Certification) is also required.

Category wise no. of chances to appear in SBI Recruitment exams:
The no. of chances to appear in SBI Recruitment exams are 4 times for general category, 7 times for General (PWD)/OBC/OBC (PWD) category & no restriction for SC/ SC (PWD)/ ST/ ST (PWD) category.
Pre-examination training:
Pre-examination training arrangement may be done by SBI may at certain centres for SC/ST/Religious Minority Community candidates in consonance with the guidelines issued by Government of India.
The marks distribution & selection procedure for SBI PO Exams
Marks Distribution:
Phase-I: Written Examination (250 marks) consisting of Objective Tests (200 marks) and Descriptive Test (50 marks)
Phase-II: Group Discussion (20 marks) & Interview (30 marks)
Selection Procedure:
The candidates have to qualify Phase-I and Phase-II both.
Marks obtained by the candidates in the Written Test (out of 250 marks) are converted to out of 75 and marks secured in Group Discussion & Interview (out of 50 marks) are converted to out of 25. The final merit list is arrived at after aggregating converted marks of Written Test and Group Discussion & Interview out of 100 for each category. The selection will be made from the top merit ranked candidates in each category.
After selection as SBI PO: Probation Period for 2 Years
Initially when a candidate joins SBI Bank as probationary officers (PO), he/she is on probation of two years. During this period he/she will be given training and at end of his/her probation / training period, there will be a screening process. Those officers who achieve the predetermined standards may be confirmed and given placement in the next higher grade (Officer Middle Management Grade Scale II) & others who qualify the test but fail to achieve the standards given placement in Middle Management Grade Scale II (Officer Junior Management Scale Grade I). There will be termination of services for those Officers who fail to qualify the process.
