The term multimedia refers to the use of computers to integrate text, images and sound into a presentation for an audience or user.
Any means of conveying information is known as a medium and more than one medium clubbed together, is called the media. Written words, numbers and symbols are categorized as the text, images, still or moving and sound are the three mediums which constitute multimedia. All the elements that contribute to multimedia are not necessarily present in every multimedia production. But, the use of computer technology to create and distribute them is common to all. Multimedia is widely used for education, business and entertainment. Multimedia is also frequently used on the internet. Notwithstanding its dependence on computer technology, theeffectiveness and appeal of multimedia depends to a great extent on the creativity of the people, who develop the text, sound and visuals that constitute the content of a multimedia production.
Multimedia productions almost always include text and graphics i.e. drawings, photographs, diagrams and charts and other visual elements such as buttons and arrows which enables the user the navigate their way through a multimedia production. A multimedia professional is responsible for the look of the finished presentation of the text. He has also to learn the tools and methods for different kind of still and animated images with the help of softwares. Video-live or recorded moving images, is used in many multimedia productions for the internet, sales presentations and illustrating procedures. Audio. i.e. spoken words and music, again live or recorded. adds interest and appeal to a multimedia production. Not many multimedia productions use audio. A multimedia professional has to learn to capture video and audio and integrate them into a multimedia production. All those who may be looking for a career in this field have to study and understand the use of personal computers for making meaningful multimedia products. Visual special effects (SFx) are increasingly playing an important role in films and television. This trend started by Hollywood studios like Pixar and ILM is also being increasing used by the Indian film industry. TV news channels are also using graphic effects both for their promos and new based programs. Through this course the student would be made aware of the opportunities and challenges of creating multimedia content.

AAFT (Asian Academy of Film & Television)
We have always believed that a film school should take a holistic and realistic approach in its teaching. By holistic we mean that film school training should not be limited to only classrooms and lectures on theories and techniques. Therefore, at AAFT we have adopted a comprehensive training method with equal importance on the practical training of film making and acting.
Believing that training and skill building are quite essential in the field of visual media, Asian Academy of Film & TV, has been imparting education and training in the art & craft of film making in television presentation since 1993.
The academy was planned as an alternative to formal film schools and has since come a long way making a unique place for itself amongst the best global centers of education of its kind. Growing to be certified as the first ISO 9001:2000 film school in this part of the world in less than a decade since its inception, the Academy was also approved as an international level training center by the 125 year old City & Guilds of the United Kingdom in the year 2002.
Students with varied background, experience and culture are selected for admission to the academy for their talent and enthusiasm. Although students spend most of their time on the projects, the education and training imparted at AAFT is more than just a craft model.
Education and training for various courses are provided by expert media practitioners supplemented by visiting guest lecturers who are leading exponents of their specialized skills in the practical craft of film & television production.
The Academy has also done pioneering work of generating training a world class material in the form of books and video recordings on the various techniques of film and television production both for the benefit of its students and the practicing film and television professionals. The Documentation Center of the academy has produced a number of books on the art & screen presentation.
The academy is affiliated to the International Film & Television Research Center which aims at raising professional standards of films and television presentations. Film and Television personalities from all over the world are often the guest of the Research Center. AAFT is also affiliated to International Film & Television club.
Festivals of Israel, Japanese, Croatian, Norwegian and Russian films have already been organized by the Club in the past. Students of the academy greatly benefit from the activities of both these organizations.
