The intelligent body.
Awareness through stillness and movement: Learn about your bodies inherent capacities through Yoga, Tai Chi, Feldenkrais, Alexander technique, Aikido and others.
The popular body.
Work on styles from Jazz, Hip hop, B-Boying, Bollywood and Latin dances. Become a versatile and stylish performer.
The Modern Body.
Classes and workshops range from contemporary dances, release, improvisation and choreography.
Initiation to different styles and forms of dance.
Ongoing training to enable you to become a proficient mover.
Experimentation to begin using what you’ve learnt in meaningful ways.
Dramaturgy and rehearsals for performances.
Consolidation through ongoing tutorials, assessments and theoretical studies.
Drop in classes and modules of short term courses are now open for registration. Regular students will be given certificates based on their modules of 3, 6 or 12 month duration.
There will be supportive classes to nurture a deeper relationship to your work. Faculty will be from India and abroad. Schedules will change in order to fulfill Course requirements. A detailed time - table will be made available throughout the duration of the course.
Weekdays.
Module a: 3.00 - 4.00 pm
Module b: 4.15 - 5.15 pm
Module c: 5.30 - 6.30 pm
Module d: 6.45 - 8.00 pm
Weekends: A series of popular forms and contemporary dances will be available at the two studios - Connect and LVDS throughout the day from 3.00pm to 8.00pm.
Prospectus:
Indian Society for the Performers and Teachers of Dance in association with the Lourd Vijay Dance Academy is proud to present a first of its kind “Professional Dance Development Certificate Program (PDDCP)” in the country.
The Program is comprehensive keeping in mind the need of a versatile dancer, performer and a future instructor and taking in to consideration the latest trends and paths the entertainment and performing arts industry has to offer.
The program has been structured by its Program Director - Nakula Somana, (from 'All That Jazz', Dance College in Bristol, UK) and Lourd Vijay of the Lourd Vijay Dance Academy who have a combined industry experience spanning over 40 years in dance, entertainment & arts Management. PDDCP will be facilitated by highly acclaimed national and international faculty from the world of performing arts. We would also have visiting faculty from other allied art, design and creative fields to bring in a different yet wholesome perspective to the learning process.
PROGRAM OFFERINGS

- Syllabus includes different forms of dance such as Contemporary, Hip Hop, Ballet, Jazz, Indian Classical & folk dance, Belly Dance, Latin Dance, traditional martial arts, etc

COURSE REQUIREMENTS
Every student is required to complete 24 hours of training per week.
- 16 Hours of mandatory training Sessions in the mornings
- 2 Hours of training in 4 Elective Subjects on weekdays in the evenings & weekends as part of our community classes

Along with the above - mentioned schedule there would be a mandatory class by a visiting faculty addressing disciplines like - Dance therapy, Anatomy, Pilates, Physiotherapy, Visual design, Graphic Design, Photography , Videographer, Physical theatre, Stage design, Costume design, dance for camera, nutritionist, Career guidance, Executive Coaches, Counselors, Architects, etc.
All this has been added to the program to understand dance and movement from various perspectives.

Nakula Somana
Enjoy interacting with different cultures and have lived in China, UK and Norway. Am interested in alternative energy and sustainable living practices and have worked on organic farms in Ireland, Wales and India. -
Shabari Rao
Shabari Rao is a dancer, choreographer and educator. Trained extensively in both Kathak and Contemporary dance techniques, she has worked as a professional dancer for over a decade, collaborating with other artists to create performance work for film, stage and sites. -
Abhilash Ningappa
Abhilash Ningappa is born in India. He is a Performer, teacher and choreographer in India and Europe. He post graduated in SEAD (Salzburg) and Post Masters in APASS (Advanced performance and scenograghy studies) (Belgium) on a movement research project called PLAY PRACTICE. A yoga practitioner and a martial art teacher, trained in kalari payattu and contemporary dance, started his training in India and later travelled in India and Europe working and practicing. -
Amaresh
Amaresh is a contemporary dancer and theatre artist. He started his training with a diploma in Theatre and Drama, from Ninasam Theatre Institute (Heggodu, Sagar Taluk, Karnataka) and continued with a Diploma in Dance, from Attakkalari Centre for Movement Arts (Bangalore, Karnataka), which included intensive training in Kalaripayattu (martial art) and dance forms Bharatanatyam, Contemporary and Ballet. -
Deepak Kurki Shivaswamy
Deepak Kurki Shivaswamy has been engaged in artistic work as a performer, creator and teacher since year 2000. He has trained and worked with dance companies like Attakkalari in India, Bodhi project in Austria, Danshuisstationzuid in Netherlands, Hausgemacht in Germany. He completed a post graduate diploma in choreography at S.E.A.D in Austria. His dance creations have been showcased in many venues in India and Europe. -
Kamila Kama Jezierska Kama
Kamila Kama Jezierska Kama is from Poland. She is a member of The Icelandic Association of Professional Dancers, The International Dance Council CID (the official world-wide organization for all forms of dance) and she is listed in Global Dance Directory. She was a head of Contemporary Dance department in Reykjavik Dance Academy while she was living in Iceland. -
Padmini Menon
The Padmini Menon is the skill of letting go of our underlying tension so that everything we do is easier, more pleasurable and more productive. We stop fighting with ourselves to do the things we want to do – we learn to work with ourselves to achieve our goals.
To be a part of the course, prior experience in movement is not required. The purpose of this course is to nurture talent and lay strong foundations in dance. For that, the requirement is the attitude to be keenly committed to the course, the want to discover your body, and to understand movement.
You will graduate from the course stronger, more flexible, better equipped to perform, and better networked in the dance community.

LVDS has graduated from being a dance school to an institution that promotes all kinds of talent through its International Dance festivals, arts festivals and Dance Championships, hosted across the country such as the India International Salsa Congress, Goa Salsa Festival, the All India Salsa Championship, All India Solo Salsa Championship, the Chennai Open, etc. LVDS’s doors are open for anyone with dance in their soul. Inception
LVDS was started in 1997 by Lourd Vijay. Over the course of 11 years, he honed and perfected his art in the professional arena. Channelling the experience and spirit of his own career as well as that of a passionate team of vibrant and highly skilled youngsters through this studio.
Pioneering Indian-western Dance
Lourd Vijay revolutionized Indian-western dance over and over again in India - most notably, by introducing Salsa in 1997. Closely associated with the Indian Society for Performers and Teachers of Dance and the Karnataka Dancesport Association, Lourd Vijay's Dance Studio not only trains you in dance but also inculcates self-confidence, social skills, fitness and fun!
Popularising Dance & Producing Champions
From having introduced Salsa to India in 1997, to having produced the country’s best social dancer’s, performers, dance Champions and to the best of instructors. LVDS has come a long way in not only carving a niche for it self but has also changed the course of dance history by creating a dance revolution in India.
LVDS has focused on popularising various forms of dance. Using workshops as an innovative tool, LVDS has introduced Bangalore, Mysore, Hyderabad, Cochin, Delhi, Colombo and other metros to the exciting dance forms of Salsa, Merengue, Cha-cha, Jive Rumba and the Tango. Our dance performances and workshops are a class apart - due to the unique style and innovation we bring to each venture. In fact, this style is now seen as our trademark, prompting a huge wave of requests for performances and workshops from the LVDS troupe.
A Guinness World Record Holder
To its list of accolades and achievements LVDS has a Guinness world Record to its credit and also being assigned the job of “Ambassador of the Hong Kong Salsa Festival and the Head judge of the Asia Pacific Salsa Open Championship. The Director of LVDS has also been invited as the VIP guest of the Colombia Salsa Festival and also to judge the Championships in Colombia.
