Origins:
Salsa dance movements originate from the Cuban Son dancing of the 1940s more specifically through the beat of Son Montuno with strong influences from the dance of Danzon, Mambo, Guaguanco and other Afro-Cuban folkloric dancing.
Today there are many various styles of salsa dancing because of geographical dispersion and cultural syncretism. The most well-known styles are Cali-style (from Colombia), Cuban-style ("Casino"), LA-style, New York-style, and Puerto Rican-style.
About the dance:
Salsa is typically a partner dance, although there are recognized solo forms (Floor Shines/ Shines), line dancing (suelta), and Rueda de Casino, where groups of couples exchange partners in a circle. Salsa can be improvised or performed with a set routine, choreography and freestyle..
Where you can dance Salsa:
Salsa dances/socials are commonly held in dance studios, night clubs, ballrooms, restaurants, and outside, especially if part of an outdoor festival. Salsa dancing is an international dance that can be found in most metropolitan cities in the world. Festivals are held annually, often called a Salsa Congress, in various host cities aimed to attract variety of salsa dancers from other cities and countries. The events bring dancers together to share their passion for the dance, build community, and to share moves and tips with each other. These events usually include salsa dance performers, live salsa music, workshops, open dancing, and contests.
Calories Burnt:
A 100lb dancer will burn 264 calories, a 150lb dancer will burn 396 calories, a 175lb dancer will burn 462 calories and a 200lb dancer will burn 528 calories.

- 1 Class: Rs. 400/- + Service Tax
- 8 Classes: Rs. 2200/- + Service Tax
- 24 Classes: Rs.5950/- + Service Tax
- 1 Month 8 classes: Rs.1,500+ Service Tax(Kids)
- 1 Month (8 - 96 Classes) (Various dance forms): Rs.22,000/- + Service Tax
- 3 Months (240 – 288 Classes) (Various dance forms): Rs.55,000/- + Service Tax
- 6 Months (480 – 576 Classes) (Various dance forms): Rs.99,000/- + Service Tax
- 12 Months (960 – 1152 Classes) (Various dance forms): Rs.1,80,000/- + Service Tax

- 8 classes to be consumed within 1 month of registration.
- 24 classes package to be consumed within 3 months.
- The above fee does not include Yoga class by Bharat Thakur, Aerobics, Pilates & Ninjuitsu.

Inception
LVDS was started in 1997 by Lourd Vijay. Over the course of 11 years, he honed and perfected his art in the professional arena. Channelling the experience and spirit of his own career as well as that of a passionate team of vibrant and highly skilled youngsters through this studio.
Pioneering Indian-western Dance
Lourd Vijay revolutionized Indian-western dance over and over again in India - most notably, by introducing Salsa in 1997. Closely associated with the Indian Society for Performers and Teachers of Dance and the Karnataka Dancesport Association, Lourd Vijay's Dance Studio not only trains you in dance but also inculcates self-confidence, social skills, fitness and fun!

From having introduced Salsa to India in 1997, to having produced the country’s best social dancer’s, performers, dance Champions and to the best of instructors. LVDS has come a long way in not only carving a niche for it self but has also changed the course of dance history by creating a dance revolution in India.
LVDS has focused on popularising various forms of dance. Using workshops as an innovative tool, LVDS has introduced Bangalore, Mysore, Hyderabad, Cochin, Delhi, Colombo and other metros to the exciting dance forms of Salsa, Merengue, Cha-cha, Jive Rumba and the Tango. Our dance performances and workshops are a class apart - due to the unique style and innovation we bring to each venture. In fact, this style is now seen as our trademark, prompting a huge wave of requests for performances and workshops from the LVDS troupe.
A Guinness World Record Holder
To its list of accolades and achievements LVDS has a Guinness world Record to its credit and also being assigned the job of “Ambassador of the Hong Kong Salsa Festival and the Head judge of the Asia Pacific Salsa Open Championship. The Director of LVDS has also been invited as the VIP guest of the Colombia Salsa Festival and also to judge the Championships in Colombia.
