This module will give the engineer an introduction to live sound engineering. Duties of a sound engineer, health and safety, preparing stage plots / tech riders, Time Management, Sound Check etc., are some of the basic topics that will be covered. In addition, students will be coached through what an engineer needs to know about setup on stage, setup speakers and amplifiers, set up wedges and in-ear monitors, ring out the system and more. They will be shown how a live mixing console works and how to get a proper stage sound covering drums, bass, guitar, vocals and keys. They will also be shown how to successfully record and mix their shows.

Eligibilty
A prior course in sound engineering would be to the student’s advantage.
Prior work experience in audio engineering would also be beneficial.
The student should have an aptitude for physics, math and electronics.
Being able to play an instrument is an added advantage.
The student should be fluent in English as that would be the medium of instruction.

10 hours of advance booking available per week for individual practice and projects.
Unlimited spot bookings available for individual practice and projects on first come first serve basis.
Access to Music Production lab for DAW based projects.
Access to studio facility for recording projects.
Access to auditorium for Live Sound projects and shows.
Rules
Bookings are made available subject to project brief, class schedule and availability.
Student has to pass in all projects for successful completion of the module.
Attendance percentage lower than 50% disqualifies the student from the current module.
In the event of failure in a module or disqualification from a module, a student can test out of the module. Testing out charges will be applicable.
At True School, students will learn a wide variety of styles and from a broad range of subjects including location recording, composition, sequencing and sampling.
They will learn about Studio Sound 101, Live Sound 101, Audio Ear Training, Art of Mixing 101, Acoustics, Advanced Microphone techniques, Advanced mixing and mastering, and stage monitoring & monitor mixing. The course opens up a variety of career paths in the media industry, such as sound recordist, sound-effects designer, Foley artist and composer.
The program will comprise 10 modules – each an eleven-week session with three 45-minute courses per week.
