1) What is networking? What are the Degree options available in the field of Hardware & Networking?
Ans. In the world of computers, networking is the practice of linking two or more computing devices together for the purpose of sharing data. Networks are built with a mix of computer hardware and computer software
An Degree in Hardware & Networking Administration degree the graduate with a competitive edge in the IT world. Their technical skills include the ability to construct a computer from scratch as well as the implementation, management and maintenance of computers and network configurations to optimize performance.
A number of Degrees are available in this industry. For eg, a student can do a B.Sc. in System & Network Administration from Annamalai University.
2) Is this Degree Govt recognised? Which university? What is the duration? Ans.Yes, the Degree offered by University is Govt. recognized and approved by UGC. It means that this Degree is on par with any other Degree that every college also offers. This Degree is offered by Annamalai University, under the Distance Education mode.
Lectures are however conducted at the official Study / Learning center. Centers conducts practical lectures for the students at their own venue. Exams are however conducted by the University, semester-wise or annually. For that also, the student does not have to travel anywhere, he is given the facility to appear for the exams within the city itself.
3) What is the eligibility? Diploma holders can also apply? Ans.His actual eligibility is his interest and aptitude for the subject. However, technical eligibility for a student to apply is a 12th std passed from any discipline. Thus a student applying for BCA for eg can be a student from Arts / Science / or Commerce stream. Even a student, who has not completed his 12th, but has directly enrolled for technical Diploma of 3 years duration which is Govt. recognized or a Diploma from a Govt. Institute or Univ. is also eligible.

Ans. The future trends in Hardware & Networking industry are very exciting & show a tremendous upward movement in terms of applications & demand. If will see the demand and supply proportion and the survey conducted, reports show that in this industry demand is more than the supply currently and the demand in the coming years will be more than 4-5 times than the current requirement.
6) What are the various applications of Hardware & Networking? Why has data security become very important today?
Ans. Regarding the various application of Hardware & Networking, a hardware professional can:

As regards to data security, which means protecting information and information systems from unauthorized access, use, disclosure, disruption, modification, inspection, recording or destruction. Governments, military, corporations, financial institutions, hospitals, and private businesses amass a great deal of confidential information about their employees, customers, products, research, and financial status. Most of this information is now collected, processed and stored on electronic computers and transmitted across networks to other computers.
The field of information security has grown and evolved significantly in recent years. There are many ways of gaining entry into the field as a career. It offers many areas for specialization including: securing network(s) and allied infrastructure, securing applications and databases, security testing, information systems auditing, business continuity planning and digital forensics science, etc.
7) What are the pay packages available? What is the career growth?
Ans. The growth opportunity for anybody in the field of IT Network & Hardware industry is very good. IT graduates with BCA/B.Sc in Hardware & Security Systems Degrees get a start pay of approx 1.2 lacs pa and with experience and specialization they go upto 9 lacs to 12 lacs pa in 5 to 6 years time
8) Any special skills or talent required for a student to excel in this field? What are the latest trends?
Ans. A student wanting to enter this field should essentially love computers / machines. He should enjoy opening up a machine and understanding the actual working of the mechanism. There is no specialized skill required to get in this field, only he should have zeal to excel in this field of Hardware & Networking Industry. But as per the present scenario, a student having a graduation in this field will have better opportunities and faster Career growth.
9) How much time needs to be invested for doing this degree? Are lectures through correspondence or online?
Ans. A student needs to invest 6 hours a week, to do this degree program. Lectures are also available online which a student can avail of if he is working and therefore cannot spare time, as well by practical classes Exams are practical as well as theory which comprises of objective questions to gauge the knowledge of the basic concepts.
As there is a lot of value given to candidates with experience, he can utilize his time in doing some part time / full time job which will enhance his job profile.
10) Can a student do dual qualification- regular degree through college and this Specialized Career Degree? What is the advantage?
Ans. Job opportunities are plenty for dual degree holders. If you have a degree in two related subjects, then that shows how focused and determined you are towards your goal.It will make you a specialist. On the other hand, if you have two degrees in different domain, then that helps you in exploring your career in two diverse fields. Normally any firm picks up such students and trains them in their specific interest like IT. The IT industry is expected to generate employment of 2.2 million by the end of 2008 which is expected to increase significantly in coming years.
FDI (Foreign Direct Investment) - High inflow of FDI in the IT sector is expected to continue in coming years. The inflow of huge volumes of FDI in the IT industry of India has not only boosted the industry but the entire Indian economy in recent years
