1) What is the tie-up between SMU and St. Angelo’s ?
Ans. SMU is an open university offering various programs in Computer science, commerce, management, etc. and they appoint Learning Centers to execute their degree programs. St. Angelo’s Goregaon-E center has been approved as Learning Centers by SMU for offering degree programs in BCA and B.Sc.-IT and MCA. This means that St. Angelo’s becomes a COLLEGE where the students can enroll for 3 yrs degree programs in BCA and B.Sc.-IT and MCA –Masters Degree program).
2) What is SMU?

6) What is the concept of the Learning Center centre?
Ans. The Learning Centres are authorised to provide counselling and tutoring services to SMU-DE students. The Learning Centres have been equipped with infrastructure and facilities as stipulated by the University, to effectively support the learning process under the distance mode. Learning Centres provide students with a platform where each student has a chance to interact with counsellors and other batch mates. Students shall receive personal attention and support at these Learning Centres, including hands-on training at the designated Learning Centres. The Learning Centres will provide counselling and hands on experience for each programme (each semester) as indicated in the respective programme headings.
These Learning Centres will act as the access and contact points between the University and the students.

8) How many times the degree course admissions can be done for these programs in a year?
Ans. The admission of degree programme shall be done four times in a year whereas examinations shall be conducted at the end of each semester. The dates of admission are available on the website.
9) Is the Degree awarded recognized for government jobs or further post graduation programme?
Ans. YES. All the degrees –diplomas, post graduate and Master Degree courses offered by open universities including SMU are recognized and treated equivalent to degrees or PG’s or Masters awarded by other universities in the countries. All Universities offering such Degrees – UG / PG /Masters are UGC approved
10) What is the language of Instruction?
Ans. The medium of instruction of programme is English Language only. All the Printed Study Material of computer programme is in English language. Examination will be in English language. However, your co-ordinator, instructor or counsellor may use either English/Marathi/Hindi/Any other language to help the students understand the subject well.
11) What are the objectives of doing M.Sc. IT?

12) What is the duration of the M.Sc. IT?
Ans. The M.Sc. IT programme has the minimum duration of 2 years. Student should complete it within 5 years. But if anyone fails to complete the degree within 5 years he/she will be required to re-register for the programme again.
A semester system has been adopted by SMU for its academic programmes. In this scheme, an academic year consists two semesters each of 6 months duration.
Thus M.Sc. IT has 4 semesters (2 semesters per year).
13) What is the eligibility of the degree programme in M.Sc. IT?
Ans. Eligibility : 3 year Graduation.
Provision for Lateral entry to Second Semester :
3 years Graduation and six months computer course from reputed institution.
Note: In this Lateral entry Scheme, students have to appear and pass the previous Semester Examination. Books of second semester will be supplied by the University and Internal Assessment will be completed at the Learning centre
Provision for Direct entry to Third Semester :

17) What is the process of admission?
Ans. The following instructions are being given to help you to fill up the admission form.

Fill the application form carefully in CAPITAL and put the signature and date on it.

Degree students have to fill the courses in the table *Course name and Course code applied for on the 2nd page
of the admission form. -
Attach photocopy of requisite qualification and cast certificates (attach attested copies only) to the application form.

Paste the passport size photo on the application form.
-
Study centre co-ordinator will verify and sign the application form.

The study center has to submit duly filled and verified application forms before the last-date-of-submission at the
university along with relevant documents and the demand draft of the university fees. -
Take the receipt from the study center and preserve it till your admission is confirmed.
Application forms received after the last-date-of-admission with late fees will be rejected.
18) What are the documents required to be attached with the admission form? Ans. Compulsory:

20) Can the student change the Learning centre?
Ans. Student once registered, cannot change the study center in between the academic year or the semester for which the fees has been paid. However, while taking the admission to next year, student can change the study center. Student should fill the form from the new study centre.
21) What are the admission and exam dates for M.Sc. IT programme?
Ans. The details are available on the web site. The same shall be intimated to the students by the Learning centers well

22) Training will be conducted at which centers?
Ans. The training will be conducted at Goregaon-E center of St. Angelo’s Professional Education.
23) What is the total duration of the lectures?
Ans. 3-4 hours classes every Sunday, at the Goregaon-E center.
24) Which Study material will be provided to M.Sc. IT students?
Ans. University study material will be provided to the student as per the details available on the website.
25) Can the course be completed before 2 years?
Ans. NO. The minimum duration has to be 2 years any changes.
26) Will the student be allowed to take individual programme (subject) admission?
Ans. NO. Student will be enrolled for M.Sc. IT degree course only.
27) Can student take a break during the course semester?
Ans. NO. If student goes on break, the subject which he missed, he has to cover on his own.
28) How the exams will be conducted for the students?
Ans. As per university module, the online exam dates will be intimated well in advance and also informed if there are any changes.
29) What is the required percentage in Bachelors Degree for seeking admission to M.Sc. IT degree programme?
Ans. The student should have passed his Bachelors Degree with minimum passing marks.
30) Is there any age criterion for taking admission to M.Sc. IT degree programme?
Ans. NO. Any student interested to learn M.Sc. IT can be enrolled for this course from stream who matches the eligibility.
31) Can student take the admission form with him, and bring later on filled form for admission?
Ans. NO. The admission process and form filling will be done at the center only.
