Teacher Training for Early Childhood Care and Education (Inclusive)

Helen O' Grady International in association with the Spastics Society of India set up by Dr. Mithu Alur, now renamed ADAPT offers a sic month Certificate Course on Early Childhood Care and Education (Inclusive Education) at ADAPT (Bandra).

The Right to Education (2009) (RTE) has made it compulsory that all children are ensured education in regular schools.

For this act to be fully implemented, it is necessary that the Early Childhood Educators also have to be trained to deal with all children in their pre-primary classes including children with disabilities. This course has been designed in accordance with the goals and objectives of the policy of RTE.

Course Aim:
The course aims to develop the skills, attitudes and knowledge required to meet all the developmental needs of young children with neurological, intellectual and physical disability.

It will equip the teacher trainees with knowledge and strategies required to include all children who are marginalized especially young children with disabilities into mainstream educational institutions.

Course Content:

• To facilitate trainee teachers an understanding of the significance, scope and nature of education in early childhood years along with variations in all areas of Human Development

• To acquire theoretical as well as practical knowledge of Early Childhood Education based on Child Development.

• To enable trainee teachers to develop the attitudes, skills, insights and teaching strategies necessary to be able to work with young children and parents.

• To acquaint with concepts, principles and approaches to curriculum planning and implement developmentally appropriate curriculum that advances holistic development of the child.

• To help the trainees Understand the needs of Various disabilities

• To provide knowledge on Management and intervention Strategies along with early intervention

Eligibility:

• Minimum qualification H.SC. / XII or equivalent qualification from recognized board/University.

• Minimum age for admission is 18 years. There is no upper age limit.

Duration:

• 6 months - full-time

• Monday to Friday

• Saturdays are reserved for workshops
