Samba - Latin Dance Class

The Samba is an animated (exciting n lively) dance with a strong characteristic rhythm. It originated in Africa and was taken to Brazil by the African slaves sent to work on Brazilian sugar plantations.

The slaves mixed with the indigenous Indians who worked with them at the plantations and when there was something to celebrate, danced with them. Gradully the dance lost its ritualistic nature and eventually became the Brazilian national dance. The subtle beat and the interpretative nuances of Samba soon took center stage in street dancing cafeterias and ballrooms until it became the dancing soul of Brazil. In fact it is said that if a Brazilian doesn't known how to do the samba there is something wrong either his head or his legs.
