Institute Overview

The AISFM Institute of Advertising and Digital Marketing offers unique courses that combine marketing, advertising and the technology of digital media. Students in our bachelor’s and master’s degrees develop a broad advertising skillset while focusing on key industry practices in traditional and digital communication. AISFM students graduate with up-to-date, practical skills that are sought after by our placement partners.

Course Overview

The decision to study marketing or advertising presents a confusing range of options for Indian students. There is a BBA, a BCom, an Mcom, an MBA, a Masters and PG Diplomas which all include marketing or advertising subjects. Additionally, there are plenty of short courses that claim to teach digital marketing.
When aspiring students visit our campus, the first question they ask is: How are AISFM courses different from other marketing programs?

Firstly, we free up marketing and advertising subjects from the old-fashioned commerce/business/marketing degrees in which you normally find them. We throw out boring textbooks and replace them with hands-on interactive learning, led by experienced faculty. Students spend their time on cutting-edge research, theory and production, rather than on memorizing textbook definitions.

Secondly, we teach real production skills. Our students don’t just learn the theory of TV advertising – they make TV ads! Students can write, plan, cast, shoot and edit their own commercials. The AISFM campus is a real, working, 22-acre film studio and students are surrounded by cameras, lights, production floors and sound and edit suites.

Thirdly, we offer a significant focus on digital marketing. Digital marketing spends are expected to grow at 32% worldwide each year for the near future, and we anticipate the growth rate in India to be even faster. By providing our students with intensive training in SEO, PPC, social media, mobile and other digital strategies, we endow them with the career skills to take on the future of advertising.

Finally, we are building academic partnerships with top advertising institutes around the world. Advertising has become a global enterprise and international campaigns are now being created, managed and analyzed from India. These academic partnerships provide students with the opportunity to build their personal networks in multiple countries through shared projects and exchange experiences.

Cutting-edge curriculum, top faculty, real production skills, advanced digital marketing and international opportunities; just a few of the reasons why AISFM is the top advertising institute in India.

Apply for Degree Courses

Admissions are now open for our revolutionary degree, masters and MBA programs in media, with specialized courses in film, animation, journalism, advertising, photography, graphic design and media management.

For the first time in India students finishing their 10+2 or graduation have the option of a bachelor’s/graduation or master’s program that combines a broad liberal arts education with intensive training in media production, with options such as film, acting, animation, mass communication or photography.

We believe that in order to be a great filmmaker or media professional, technical skills alone are insufficient. Students should have a fundamental grounding in varying aspects of culture and society, including religion, psychology, philosophy, literature, math and economics.

Lessons in all these areas enrich the student’s life, both professionally and personally, and help the student fulfill their potential no matter what track in media their life takes them.

Our degree programs are fully government accredited and feature exciting exchange opportunities with universities around the world.

Marketing

These subjects explore the history of marketing and contemporary theories of advertising. We also explore cross-cultural communication and discover consumer psychology, gaining a deeper understanding of why people buy what they buy. Through class discussions, debates and interactive activity, students quickly learn the basic concepts of these fields, in preparation for the advanced subjects that lie ahead.

Advertising

Moving from the broad strokes of marketing into the specifics of advertising, students learn to plan, create, execute and analyse ad campaigns. The classes include introductory research, ideation, campaign planning and the production of a range of advertisements. These are hands-on subjects, built around increasingly complex projects.

Copywriting

The basis of almost all advertising, copywriting is an essential skill for any student aspiring to an advertising career. Our copywriting classes begin with the classic concepts of great sales writing and move on to specific training for short-form and long-form ads as well as writing for non-print media including TV and radio.

AISFM Core Liberal Arts

Students master written and verbal communication, learn to argue with reason and logic and develop the ability to think strategically. We also cover classical fields of study such as philosophy, psychology and literature, all of which will make students stronger communicators. Our Core Liberal Arts subjects are common for students from multiple courses, so these classes allow you to build friendships across the institute – friendships that will later be essential once students reach their major projects.

Digital Marketing

Many of our digital marketing subjects are not currently taught at any Indian university, giving AISFM students a unique educational advantage. We teach the entire gamut of digital strategy including SEO, PPC, analytics, mobile, social media and other emerging strategic options. Students learn not only the theory behind digital marketing but also real, industry-standard technical skills honed through regular projects and assignments.

Multimedia Production Skills

Where is the fun in planning advertising campaigns, if you don’t actually get to make your ads? Not a problem at AISFM – our classrooms are surrounded by working production studios. Students complete training in all aspects of ad film production, including writing, preproduction, camera and lighting, editing and sound. These classes also include software tools for print and digital ad creation such as Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign and more. Other skill-based subjects include drawing – enabling students to quickly sketch out creative ideas, graphic design and photography.

Branding

Branding is one of the most pervasive and lasting advertising strategies for a company. Everything from the font in the logo, to the colour and design of the office reception, communicates something about the company.

In these subjects, students learn the skills of brand management and review companies around the world who have successfully explored innovative branding strategies.

Career Skills

These subjects cover a range of professional skills, all of which are focused on real industry requirements, as well as developing the students’ own careers.

We begin with personal branding – how to create your own branded image and built it out using digital media. We look at account planning and management skills – the tasks that make up much of the day-to-day work in an ad agency. We also cover the digital marketing workflow – how to execute and manage a range of digital campaigns and we finish with the marketing inputs for product development.

Projects and Internships

AISFM believes in learning by doing, and this is certainly evident in the major projects that students undertake. While some of these are individual efforts, others require coordination with students from other courses at AISFM, or even with other students from around the world as part of our international projects.

Students get hands on experience creating real content, under real-world conditions. Is there any better way to prepare one’s self for the industry? Potential project areas can include SEO, PPC, digital strategy, advertising research and even product creation. We will also be running ad agency simulations, wherein students work under tight deadlines to plan, pitch and execute campaigns.

Bachelors’ students also have the opportunity to undertake internships in a range of marketing, advertising, digital and research fields. Students are selected for internships on the basis of multiple criteria, including academic performance. Internships allow students to get their foot in the door and to start building their personal networks with real employers.

Internships are not guaranteed – you need to work hard to secure one!
