Hip-hop dance derives its roots from a blend of East Coast and West Coast dance styles of the 1970s and 1980s. These dance styles were different, but similar in rhythmic style. From East Coast b/boyin and Brooklyn uprocking to West Coast locking and popping grew the dance style we now know as hip-hop. This blend of East and West Coast dance expresses roots from African, martial arts, street and folk dancing, which shine through in today's hip-hop, according to Davey D's Hip Hop Corner.
Across the United States from the ‘Boogie Down’ Bronx, New York to the ‘Beat Street’ corners of Compton, California, young people everywhere took to this new style of dancing that included such feats as breaking, popping, locking, gliding, ticking, vibrating and krumping. In the earlier days, some hip hop dance moves such as the Humpty Dance were made popular by hip hop artists who had created the songs from which these dances were derived.
Hip-hop emphasizes rhythm with a strong beat and the poetry of movement. Steps mostly move in a vertical direction. This form should be very stylized and enigmatic.
A "street" style of dance often seen in music videos. It is a less technical and high-energy style of dance that is done wearing street clothes and sneakers.

Spin Academy
Spin Academy was founded in Mumbai in November 2000. In February 2001 Spin Academy expanded its horizons by starting classes in Nasik and Devlali and it was here that the first live shows took place, with students performing along side their professional teachers.
As well as teaching thousands of students, the academy has always nurtured its instructors and assistants, many of whom started out as beginners themselves.
