This intensive course in acting will provide you with a strong foundation in world renowned acting techniques and training methods. You will apply these theories, practically to understand and use your talent and skills as an actor. This course has intensive hours which require your total commitment. You may also have to prepare, work and learn lines outside of class.

Your classes include -

Acting Techniques

These classes form an introduction to the various methods from all around the world which can be used for creation of a ‘believable’ character and a ‘truthful and genuine’ performance.

Text, Scene And Script Work

Using a detailed and practical study you learn how to create a character using the script, different ways of delivering a line, monologues and dialogues, listening and reacting, how to use rhythm and different types of stresses on words to bring out different meanings and emotions, and also what the relationships are between the characters. Students learn to understand the script and how they can convey these thoughts and emotions from the script to the audience as characters telling a story.

Voice, Speech And Diction

Every person has a unique voice, so does every character, here you learn how to use your voice to speak and vocally emote like the character you are playing, how to speak clearly, use voice modulation and speak with a clear diction.

Body Culture And Creative Movements
We use our body all the time to communicate what we think, want or feel, using postures, gestures and facial expressions. Here you learn how to use your body to physically become different characters and also how to use different movements to convey a story.

Improvisation
These classes provide you an opportunity to use your imagination and how to use it for a performance. Improvisation is done without preparation. It is a way to create a scene, speak, act, react, and move without preparing. The decisions for what to say or do are made on the spot. In a nut shell, improvisation is "making it up as you go along." It not only develops and polishes acting and social skills, but also builds up your confidence, self esteem, helps you understand your own strengths and also thinking creatively as an actor.

Learning Comedy
‘The greatest character in a play is the Fool and no Fool can play that character’

Just as the quote suggests ‘Comedy’ is a very serious business and cannot be done by one and all. The actor needs to know the character, why or what makes him funny, his physical and vocal eccentricities, how to deliver a funny line, the placement of a joke, where he will get a laughter. The audience’s reaction at your comedy does not come by accident but from the actor’s correct and precise knowledge about the joke.

Comedy is a science based on the methods of Timing, Technique and Precision on both a physical and mental level. There are various types and styles in comedy and here one shall explore them and practically learn to achieve an ability to perform this seriously funny subject.

This unique module is the first of its kind and is based on learning the craft of making people laugh, which will be taught by specialists in this field.

Camera And The Actor

The main purpose of this module is to teach you ‘how not to be afraid of the camera and perform in front of it effortlessly’.

Here you will learn the basic and the required technicalities of acting on camera and also how to perform, modify and accommodate your performance based upon the camera angles, camera placement, movement, shot division, types of shots, the physical and emotional continuity, hitting the mark, taking the light and how to use imagination in your act. We also give you a working knowledge of the film medium and a broad outline into the creation and production of a film.

Dance & Martial Arts

An Actor needs to be flexible, in control of his body and overall healthy and focused in order to give his best in a performance. Our training in both these forms allows you to achieve all of the above.

Dancing is an integral part of our culture. The sense of rhythm and beat is an absolute necessity for every actor. One learns here how to apply and use this sense by learning different dance styles, as knowing how to dance is the need of the hour in Indian cinema. Martial arts help you get physically and mentally fit, relieve stress and become more focused. It promotes self-awareness and discipline and it teaches you to become more aware about your body and yourself.

Audition Technique
Along with the acting training we shall also provide you with techniques which will help you focus on the do’s and don’ts required to give a good audition

Acting is a craft but it also has a business side. Actors along with their talent must also develop strong marketing skills in order to have a successful and long lasting career. Our panel of experts shall guide you into developing a career strategy which will be useful to you once you step into the professional world.

Procedure For Full Time Course

Eligibility

Duration 3 Months

• The required age for admission is 16 and above.

• Knowledge of Hindi and English is preferable

• The minimum educational requirement for admission is SSC/HSC or its equivalent.

• Admission into the Full Time Course is by Personal Interview and Audition only.

• Please prepare a scene of your choice for the Audition.

• Confirmation of your selection will be notified by phone and by sending a selection letter by post/courier.

• Your course fees can also be paid in installments, contact the school office for details.

Registration Procedure (for full time course)

• Please collect the Admission form from the school/office or download it.

• Please fill the form clearly

   (The name mentioned in the form will be printed on your Diploma)

• attach 2 passport sized photographs

• attach a photocopy of your passport or drivers license

• Please return the completed form with a DD/pay order of Rs.250/- towards registration and administrative fees in favor of Hats Off Productions Ltd

Rules And Regulations

• The school reserves the right to suspend, remove or take any other disciplinary action against any student at any stage for lack of attendance, misbehavior, misconduct or any such action which can be harmful to the staff and students of the school.

• Students are not permitted to accept any other acting assignments during the duration of their course.
