Who is the Course for?

The course is aimed at beginners as well as those having previous education or work experience in fashion.

Course Introduction

An unique and one of its kinds, the dual city course by London College of Style & FAD International focuses to give stylists a real industry experience by working on live styling projects in close co-ordination with designers, makeup artists, photographers, creative directors and the media.

Students spend one term in India and one term in London, thus getting international exposure and an insight into the global fashion industry.

Taught by some of Europe's leading industry fashion stylists supported by academic and practical support in India through FAD International, India's premier liberal creative arts institution, You’ll be learning about the industry from the inside, receiving hundreds of tips and little insights from some of today’s most successful international stylists and fashion leaders. The course focuses on all aspects of styling and helps prepare a professional portfolio for further work opportunities in the industry.

Supported by practical teaching, industry guest faculites, online forums, assignment assessments, in country faculty support and workshops teamed with industry connect, the course is aimed at individuals looking at pursuing a career in fashion styling. With the industry growing at a staggering pace with opportunities in magazines, design houses, advertising companies, fashion retail, personal and celebrity styling, tv & films and other verticals in fashion, the course provides individuals with a passion to be able to build a strong portfolio with a global direction.

Once it has been successfully completed, the course provides students with the necessary skills to begin their careers. The fashion industry tends to favour hands on experience and photographic evidence of individual talent. Therefore, our aim is to create a broad scope of exposure to real styling jobs for our students during the course. The experience gained on course is invaluable to anyone interested in working in the industry.

The course is suitable for complete beginners or those already working in the industry wishing to further develop their skill set. The in-depth and intensive course addresses all aspects of the industry and enables students to develop understanding of an exciting, glamorous and rewarding career as a professional fashion stylist.

Classes are structured to be small and intimate with limited spaces per course. This allows students more time for practical work and encourages individual learning. High profle lecturers and guest speakers, who are experts in their feld, form an integral part of the course and work alongside the skilled teaching team.

A select group of fashion industry influencers are invited to assess our students and their caliber of work. At the end of each term outstanding students are given access to professional opportunities with leading fashion brands and will be considered for employment/contracts and work experience.

The course also provides opportunity for professional photographic studio shoots where students are able to put into practice their now in-depth knowledge of fashion styling. The photographic studio shoot and evidence from the practical elements of the course provide documentation for a carefully chosen photographic portfolio of fashion styling work. Students will also be equipped with the relevant contacts in order to assist in finding work once the course is complete. FAD International and LCS advise each student individually as to the area of the industry that best fits their demonstrated skills.

Entry Requirements

ACADEMIC REQUIREMENTS

You should have a passionate interest in fashion and style and need to be highly motivated. You will want to develop excellent styling skills from leading industry experts. Your goal may be to work in the fashion industry, or you may simply wish to ignite your personal knowledge. The course is ideal for students who have completed school or university and are looking for first class training as access into the fashion industry.

You should also:

• Have an enthusiastic and broad interest in the fashion industry.

• Have a keen interest in the creative and technical aspects of fashion media, marketing and business.

• Be in pursuit of excellence with a willingness to learn and develop outstanding skills.

Students must be 18 years of age or over or 16 years of age with parental consent. All modules are taught in English and you are required to have a good level of written English.
