Study Circle
The evolution and growth of Study Circle is perhaps one of the most unique growth stories in the recent history of modern Maharashtra. The institute was born out of the vision and clear intentions of one man - Dr. Anand Patil. In a true sense, the growth of this organisation is comparable to the growth of the Rayat Shikshan Sanstha in Maharashtra.
Dr. Anand Patil ; a surgeon besides having completed his M.Sc.(Biotech), M.A. ( History), M.A. (Sociology), M. Phil. (Anthropology), LLB, Dip. in Journalism, and Dip. in Hospital Administration, secured 69th rank in UPSC examination in 1987. During the selection process he realised how difficult it was for students from Maharashtra to succeed in these exams not because of lack of ability, but due to lack of proper guidance and unavailability of material. It was then, the concept of guiding students for competitive exams and ensuring that the number of students in the central services from Maharashtra increases took root in the form of a small centre at Kolhapur and then at Mumbai.
An important milestone in the growth of the institute was the publishing of the magazine ‘Spardha Pariksha Nokari Sandarbha’ in Marathi language. This magazine has today become a beacon of light guiding students across the state aspiring for Civil Services and indeed acts as a lifeline of hope for students disillusioned by the system. Today Study Circle is the only institute of its kind in the country with a network of 18 centres including two in Delhi, where students come for guidance and get much more than just mere guidance - they gain the confidence and belief that with the right guidance, dedication and hardwork, they can achieve success.
Study Circle is dedicated to training students for various competitive exams like UPSC, MPSC, Staff Selection Commission, Banking Services, Railway Recruitment Board exams and many more. Study Circle under the leadership of Dr. Anand B. Patil, has trained more than 1,00,000 students through its various courses, like in class training programs, one-day workshops, postal courses, fast track batches, various publications like “Spardha Pariksha Nokari Sandarbha”, “General Knowledge”, “Competitive Exams” and “Services Reference” and more than 200 books. The institute has metamorphosed from being a training centre to a movement of the students, for the students and by the students.
Study Circle has also been instrumental in spreading awareness about careers in administrative services and inculcating a sense of confidence among the students that irrespective of the background or socioeconomic status, with dedication, hard work and proper guidance, any aspirant can be successful. Study Circle is aware of the huge social responsibility on it’s shoulders and the ground realities of thousands of students across the state, who have the ability, but no economic support required for training. For these students, Study Circle under the aegis of “Global Education and Research Trust” has instituted scholarships for 550 students annually. The Alumni of the Institute is also studded with stalwarts in the field of administration and is enlisted in the annexure attached.
The next step would be the formation of a university dedicated to training students for all types of competitive exams right from school level exams to those for studies abroad. The idea here is that a sutdent need not have to study separately for graduation and competitive exams. His graudation course will get him the much needed degree too and prepare him for all competitive exams as well.
