Zarapkar College Of Fashion
Zarapkar College of Fashion was established in 1933 by Shri K. R. Zarapkar in Pune. Since then millions of students have taken advantage of quality training in Fashion Design. In order to give the best training to the students, Mr. Zarapkar went to England and joined the world renowned "The Tailor and Cutter Academy" in 1950. During his studies, he has given several speeches on B.B.C. He also visited Fashion Colleges in European Union and studied the methodology and working. After returning to India, he modified the system of garment drafting and cutting. He wrote many books on Garment cutting as well as Theory of Garment Design in Marathi, Hindi, Gujrathi and English. At present, these books are available in Kannada, Telugu, Malyalam and Tamil too. He pioneered the training of Fashion Design in India.
National Institute of Fashion Technology (NIFT), Ministry of Textiles, Government of India has recognized his efforts in the field of Fashion Design and awarded him the first "Life Time Achievement Award" in New Delhi.
The present director of the College has studied at Pacific Fashion Institute at San Francisco, USA and later obtained a degree from "The Clothing and Footwear Institute", London. He has travelled most of the technologically advanced countries around the world and studied the Fashion scenario. He has attended many seminars abroad. He was visiting faculty of NIFT Mumbai, Bangalore, Chennai, Hyderabad, Gandhinagar, Pune, etc. He was visiting Faculty and an examiner of SNDT University, Mumbai. He is consultant to many renowned Fashion Institutes and regularly visits many institutes in India as a guest faculty. He is recipient of "Technologists of the Year" award by the National Institute of Fashion Technology (NIFT), Ministry of Textiles, Government of India, New Delhi.
Objective:
We gained 67 years of rich experience in the field of training Fashion Design students. All these years, we were constantly improving the quality of education and never after the quantity. Our main objective is to enhance students' practical skills and the knowledge concerning design principles, methodology, concepts, managing projects, etc. Our courses are designed with understanding of the market and consumer behavior, materials and production process, trends and forecast interpretations, business practices and finally the strategic application of design in this practical world. What stands our institute out is the co-ordination of practical approach in all the subjects, developing students' creativity, professional and technical expertise of the faculties, management strengths and futuristic vision. All our assignments are based on the practical knowledge of a production process and market studies..
