The Punjab Government constituted Punjab Technical University (PTU) in 1997 by an act of State Legislative. The University was entrusted with the responsibility of developing the new generation of technical main power that can spearhead the industrial development of the Country.
PTU understands that restricting technical education of its campuses only will not serve its objective of creating a knowledge rich society. It has firmly understood that latest technical education has to be spread to the general masses. This is how the Distance Education Programme (DEP) of the Punjab Technical University was conceived.
The objective of the programme is to impart affordable, relevant, skill-based & remunerative Technical Education to the masses of the country.
