Grade 1
Right & Left Hand Techniques – Key signatures – Time Signatures. Includes the music of Taj Mahal, Horold Melvin and the Blue Notes, Robert Johnson.
Grade 2
Major Scales, Chords & Arpeggios. Includes the music of The Rolling Stones, The Moody Blues, Blind Lemon Jefferson.
Grade 3
Cycle of 4ths & Fifths, 3 & 4 Part Chords & Intervallics. Includes the music of Nina Simone, David Bowie, Radiohead.
Grade 4
Modes & Harmonic Structures Includes the music of Nina Simone, David Bowie, R.E.M.
Grade 5
Musical Notation, Sight-Reading, Improvisation. Includes the music of The Zombies, Cary Simon, The Kinks.
Grade 6
Extended Techniques, Patterns for Improvisation. Includes the music of Ray Charles, Elton John, Michael Jackson.
Grade 7
Advanced Ear Training, Musical Analysis & Transcription. Includes the music of Dr. John, Meat Loaf, Jerry Lee Lewis
Grade 8
Advanced Performance & Recording Techniques, Composing and Notating Solos and Fills. Includes the music of The Who, Rick Wakeman, Muse.
Eligibilty
Students need no previous experience or qualifications to register for these foundation courses.
TSM reserves the right to place students into the correct grade basis the audition, the student's skill level and any previous training and certification that they might have.
The sessions are geared towards absolute beginners and are a stepping stone to the professional guitar courses.
The students should be fluent in English as that would be the medium of instruction.
This course will teach techniques that enable keyboard students to perform music from a rich and diverse repertoire, ranging across blues, country, gospel, rock & roll, heavy metal, classic rock, jazz, drum n’ bass and more.
Students will study Ensemble Performance, Instrumental Technique, Tone and Sound Production, Sight-Reading, Notation, Music Theory, Improvisation and many other important ancillary musical skills.
