Sound engineering is for those who wish to be a part of the music industry. It is all about capturing sound, recording, editing, mixing and reproducing sound using electronic and mechanical devices. The course teaches basic theory and frequencies of sound then cover areas in recording, post-production, live-sound reinforcement and broadcasting. It teaches the technical aspects such as sound mixing, giving special effects, but also on recording tools, microphones.

• Anatomy of sound recording studio for motion picture production.

• Sound reproduction; acoustic properties of enclosures and their correlation with the subjective listening of sound

• Sound designing for motion picture production

• Technology in sound recording and reproduction

• Design consideration and characteristics of amplifiers, oscillators and power supplies.

• Design consideration and characteristics of sound mixers, volume controls, equalizers

• Cables and connectors - their types and application

• Care and maintenance of the audio equipment

• Audio measurements :

• Vu meter and sound level meter

• Technique of measuring parameters of various audio devices used in the studio

• Measurement of reverberation time of enclosures

• Computers in recording and editing of sound; exercises in the use of popular recording and editing softwares

• Workshop on

• Sound recording for motion pictures practices

• Modern trends in sound recording practices
