Dance Arts Diploma - Elementary Professional

Dance Arts Diploma for Elementary Professionals is a qualification giving an in depth knowledge in the sphere of Modern & Contemporary Dance along with a keen look at the different kinds of movement styles Modern & Contemporary Dance is inspired from. This program is a full time Dance Arts Diploma.

The Diploma provides:

- Evidence for employers & choreographers that a dancer has the expertise to perform

and present them self as a professional dancer

- A certification from SNDA & CID-UNESCO along with a report card

- Relevant and accessible professional development

Who is it for?

The qualification is for everyone pursuing their career in the field of dance with an intermediate level of potential. It is designed for people with variety of dance backgrounds. It is open to dancers across different dance styles such as Contemporary, Classical or Hip Hop. Minimum age for undertaking the qualification is 16 years while upper limit is 25 years.

Programme details:

• Diploma is divided into 5 semesters (7 weeks per semester)

• Credits to be awarded on basis of attendance, assignment, project work and presentation

• ·Student presentation every 7 weeks showcasing their choreographic works and repertoires

• Participation in RAZZMATAZZ wherein students organise and direct their own informal show in december

• Participation in Ahsas – Mumbai's International Dance Arts Festival in April

• More than 100 hours of rehearsals for performances

• 10 Dance Portfolio pictures

• A 3 minute high definition Dance film of the student in SNDAF studio

• Video DVD's of student's performances in December and April presentation

Career Options:

• An Internship for SNDAF

• Job with SNDAF as a dancer or instructor

• Dance jobs in schools, universities, institutions or dance companies

• SNDAF will provide recommendation letters to institutes & dance companies in India, as well as abroad

• Campus recruitment will be conducted for students.

How can I apply?

Applicants will be auditioned and selected on basis of their potential level and audition performance. Applicant is required to fill in an audition form and submit the same to Succorina D’souza on or before 15th May 2013, 12 pm.

Off course I was confused on whether to take up dance or no. The amount of investment of time, energy, efforts and funds was enormous and nobody to instil confidence of whether I will make use of the energies put in, especially in India. Not much confidence shown by folks and friends and still I jump in the pool. But only when I jumped I realized the value of taking that first big step that changes life. Like the Chinese saying goes “The Journey of A Thousand Miles, Begins with a Single Step”. My Journey has begun and I love the road whereas my initial steps were more like leaps and jetés across the road and yes I did stumble along the way, but enjoyed standing up again and again.

This Diploma is my way of giving back to all those who are waiting to take that One Big Step. I struggled to find the various kinds of education that I have today - from Pune to Delhi to Singapore to New York and then every dancing corner of Mumbai. But now that I have roamed all of it, I have decided to assemble this plethora of energetic talent for enthusiastic and full of potential dancers and bring out the best in them.

Yes, the dancing scenario in India is growing and you no longer need to worry about getting a job in the field of dance. Not only can you now get a job in dance but you can create them with your talent and energy. With this dance arts diploma, I have not only convinced the best in the industry to join me in this journey but am preparing to bring out the best in dancers who will gain knowledge from this world of movement arts.

By means of this diploma I also join hands with the CID-UNESCO in identifying these students on an International platform and giving them the right exposure and experience to grow exponentially as per their potential levels. I am extremely thrilled and excited as well as ready to put dancers in the drill of everyday movement.

Dance Jobs & Recovery of Efforts Invested

• Students will be counselled at the end of diploma where they will be given probable options for the choices they make

• They will be taught how to apply for dance jobs in schools, companies, universities or institutions

• SNDAF will give recommendations for options in India & in some parts of Europe, USA & Singapore for students who have done well in the course

• Students can also try for jobs and start working but they must also continue studying more along with it.

• If any student does exceptionally well then SNDA can offer them jobs to teach and perform part–time

• The students get the opportunity to hone their skills further with more challenging opportunities to be created for themselves

• They can also opt for auditioning for Sumeet Nagdev Dance Arts, where on being selected the student will be assured an internship for 6 months and thereafter would be offered a job in the company with a minimum of a 2 year contract and an assured salary which can be between INR 200,000 – INR 800,000 per annum depending on their skill level
