IELTS : International English Language Testing System

IELTS was introduces in 1989 to help assess English Skills of applicants who wish to study in English Language. The Test is conducted by British Council and IDP Australia. The Test is also used for immigration and employment purpose. So Student has to select from the Following Two Tests

The Academic IELTS Test

This test is for individuals who would like to plan their study in any Foreign Country in English either Undergraduate or Post graduate level. The countries Include Britain (UK), Canada, Germany, Australia, New Zealand, Singapore and some universities in USA. Test result is valid for two years from the date of the Test taken.

The General Training IELTS Test

This test is suitable for individuals who require more general level use of English for colleges, high schools, and employment or immigration purpose. The result of this test is also valid for two years from the date of the test taken.

IELTS Test is divided into four sections

Score Requirements

Each section has a score of 0- 9 scale and 9 means expert user of English. The desired score varies from university to university but minimum 6.0 average score is required in all sections. Post graduate courses ask for 6.5 to 7.00 average score. For employment and immigration minimum score required is 7.00 averages.

Test Dates

The Tests are conducted every month and the dates are generally available fifteen days prior to the Test dates. For Test dates you can contact SEICCO or British Council or IDP Australia or visit websites.

Difference between Academic & General Training IELTS Tests

Listening and Speaking Sections are the same for both the Academic and The General Training IELTS tests but Reading and writing Sections are different. For more information visit websites.
