Sachin Gupta

Recipient of National Award “Natya Bhushan”, Sachin Gupta (born 09th March ,1978) is a qualified software engineer. He is the founder and CEO of Chilsag Entertainment Network, India’s leading Media & entertainment company.

In March 2003 he started his most ambitious Venture Chilsag Chillies Theatre Company which has produced Thirteen Original theatre productions written and directed by Sachin Gupta addressing various sensitive and important social issues, even through musicals and comedy theatre productions, has formed a Theatre laboratory & a Drama Therapy centre. Also he has trained more than 300 actors in various Acting programs under the Acting School he began in 2004.

In 2005 he moved to North America to expand his Film & theatre work, staged three successful Off Broadway Shows with American actors & studied Acting at prestigious Lee Strasberg Film Institute, New York & at Fanshawe College, Canada and has learned nuances of Shakespearean acting at the prestigious Emerson College in US.

In 2011, He formed Chilsag Motion Pictures, a film production house to bring new, original storytelling & compelling themes to deliver high - quality Cinema within the film industry and presently he is directing a Bollywood Hindi feature Film for late 2012 theatrical release.

While working as an Artistic Director in the Chilsag Chillies Theatre Company Sachin Gupta has also been editing a theatre magazine – Theatre Pasta – that has consistently interviewed prominent theatre personalities from across the world and made it available even on the net to reach a wider readership. With pursuit of works of the masters Sachin went to the UK to do research on Shakespeare and also did a case study on Harvard University’s Theatre Company ‘American Repertory Theatre’. In acknowledgement of his continued work he has received letters of positive feedback for social themed plays from the former President of India Dr APJ Abdul Kalam & an award conferred on him by Delhi’s Chief Minister Sheila Dikshit on behalf of Balwant Ray Society in India.Recently he received a National Award ‘Natya Bhushan’ for his contribution to theatre.

Sachin’s sojourn into theatre started when he was 12 yrs old, and till date he has staged Seventy Five shows around the world working as an Actor, Director & Playwright including his award winning Off Broadway play ‘Celebration of life’ , ‘Handicapped City’ & ‘Kailashnath weds Madhumati’ which he staged Off-Broadway, NewYork & in Toronto,Canada for which he got huge appreciation amongst theatre lovers in Nortn America.Recently he staged his theatre production ‘The Play Begins 8pm ‘ in Orissa working as an actor alongwith Film actor & playback singer Vasundhara das.
