Foreign Exchange Program
Life in a Gurukul – The Foreign Exchange Program For the foreign students interested in the Indian Culture Rujuta has specially designed an exchange program that she calls Life in a Gurukul. Following the Gurukul tradition this is a residential program in which intensive Kathak training is given. Duration: Minimum stay of 6 months. A 1-year duration is recommended for a deeper experience. Curriculum: The participants will an average of four hours of dance instruction and practice daily. There will be no instruction on Sunday and Festival Days – participants will be encouraged to experience local customs or plan sightseeing trips on these days. Benefits: The participant will learn Kathak in its home environment and local context. The dance instruction improves posture and energy levels. Also, the routine of the program instills lifelong habits of discipline and focus in the participant. This program also helps acquire an awareness of the interdisciplinary approach and an understanding of the inter-relatedness of all arts and physical traditions of India. Participants are also encouraged to visit other places in India where traditional dance and culture are as vibrantly celebrated even today! Program Fees The fees will include the following:
