Artistic Director
The visionary behind Rhythm of Soul is its Artistic Director Rakesh Thakur, who was born on December 2, 1984 into a middle class family. Extremely athletic as a child, Rakesh excelled in sports. Martial arts, cricket, football, basketball and table tennis, to name a few, are the activities he excelled in. Rakesh won many awards. Bagging a state-level championship in the under -18 martial arts category was his crowning achievement.
A leg injury put paid to his rapidly-rising martial art career. After the injury, he started to pursue his passion - dancing. His love for dance stayed with him even when he was actively into sports. In his early days, Rakesh learnt dancing by watching movies and music videos. His dancing prowess made him a local favorite. He was subsequently invited to perform at various social events, annual functions of schools and colleges and religious festivals.
His dancing career received a boost when he was spotted by a world-renowned Dance Academy. He was subsequently offered a scholarship to pursue a professional degree in dance. The academy helped him nurture his talents and learn the nitty-gritty of the various dance forms / dance styles. Dance has since become his way of life. The Academy added a cutting edge to his talent and Rakesh soon emerged as one of its able student. As a student Rakesh learned many dance forms / dance styles like contemporary dance, Bolly-Hop, Modern Dance, Salsa and Jazz. He performed at the Dance India Dance Finale, corporate launch events and Hindi movies. His astounding dancing ability coupled with his charming personality saw him emerge as a lead dancer in many stages in and around the country.
Rakesh is also a trained fitness specialist. Brimming with talent and zeal to excel, he realized his vision of setting up his own Dance Company so he can share the joy, the passion, the excitement and the thrill that dancing can bring, with others.

Dance is universal and one of the greatest forms of art which defies all barriers or boundaries. We danced even as primordials when we lived in caves eons ago.
From the jungles of Amazon to bushman in Africa to the night clubs in Paris we danced away to glory. Dance prevails in every culture, across continents and civilization. We in India celebrate every festival and joyous occasion with dance. Be it Navratri, Prenuptial function of Sangeet, corporate product launch, award ceremonies or at pubs and discotheques where youngsters dance away to frenzy.
