Executive Education Programs is the term used for programmes at graduate-level business schools that aim to give classes for Executives and other senior managers or entrepreneurs.
Executive education prepares executives for new levels of leadership in their careers and within their organizations. If one looks around the management education and training landscape in India, the big trend is the rise of executive education. NMIMS as one of the premier B Schools have been established to cater to the rising demand of training of executives, in addition to fresh graduates that enroll into Full Time MBA. The enrolment numbers at executive education programmes are on a rise. Presently, there are more than 2500 executives undergoing various executive education programs.
In today’s chaotic business environment, participation in an executive education program has to be more than an opportunity to gain or improve a particular skill set. That is why the NMIMS Executive Education experience focuses on preparing the participants to harness their ingenuity and drive in order to reshape their organization and create a more dynamic, enriching tomorrow. Change is constant and unpredictable in today’s global business landscape. The effects in the marketplace can be either positive or unsettling, and it takes agile, flexible leadership to navigate these uncharted waters. The programs demand a great deal from both the faculty who create and deliver the courses and the business professionals who take them.
Executive education programmes meant for working professionals are classified on the basis of duration and delivery mode. The programs are delivered either on-campus or off campus. Also the duration of executive education programmes can vary from just a few days to even three years. But the common thread remains – these programmes are meant for executives who want to learn new skills and move up the hierarchy.
Executive Education Programmes
MANAGEMENT PROGRAMME FOR EXECUTIVES (MPE)
This is a week-end Post Graduate Diploma in Business Management Programme meant for working executives with minimum three years of work experience after graduation in an executive capacity. Completing this programme has a profound impact on the career of working professionals resulting in a changed outlook towards a wide range of areas. It also positively influences self perception and strengthens the executives’ confidence to take on new roles and objectives for their future career. Personal and professional growth is bound to happen as a consequence of the development of leadership and key decision making skills in this programme.
The Programme covers 24 courses and various workshops spread over 4 Trimesters. Its time frame is 22 months. During the programme the participants are required to complete a year long application – based industry project based on learning in the classroom under the guidance of an experienced faculty guide.
The pedagogy is interactive and largely based on case studies, supplemented by lectures, workshops and sessions with industry experts, presentations and business simulation games. In every trimester essential and non-evaluative workshops on areas of current interest are conducted for enhanced value-addition. Currently there are around 300 participants in this programme.
POST GRADUATE DIPLOMA IN HUMAN RESOURCES (PGDHR)
The Post Graduate Diploma in Human Resources (PGDHR) is for working executives interested in the area of Human Resources. This programme will enable executives and managers from various industries to share their perspectives and enhance their knowledge on contemporary HR issues and challenges.
The objective of the programme is to familiarize the participant with the processes and applications of Human Resource Management principles. It also helps to inculcate a pragmatic approach in aligning HR theory and practice with business objectives. Enhancing career growth in the field of HR by developing skills and competencies is required to meet the demands of the organizations today. Facilitating personal and Professional growth through skill building workshops. The pedagogy is interactive and largely based on case studies, supplemented by lectures, group activity, workshops and presentations. Emphasis is given on experiential learning and skills enhancement through workshops conducted by professional experts.
The programme covers 18 courses, 4 non credit courses and one essential workshop per module spread over four modules in 20 months. During the course, the participants are required to complete a year long application based industry project under the guidance of an experienced faculty / industry guide. There are 15 participants undergoing this programme.
PART-TIME MBA DEGREE COURSE
The 3-years Part-Time MBA program caters to executives with 3 years or more experience in the managerial cadre in medium or large organizations. The program offers an opportunity to a working executive to acquire a high-end compact management qualification through rigorous and qualitative in-class learning and also practical exposure through the industry expertise. It gives opportunity to the participants to hone their managerial skills and enable them to contribute better to their managerial decision making. The programme covers several aspects of managerial functioning that are critical to a manager’s effectiveness.
Developing a strategic perspective is an important focus of the program as it would help the participants to develop competencies to analyze the linkages within the business and with the external business environment. This enables the participants in formulating comprehensive and internally consistent strategies for the business unit and in thinking through the issues in implementing them. The cases reflecting global management experiences will provide participants an opportunity to discuss issues and challenges in their context.. The functional electives will be available in the area of Marketing, Finance, Human Resources Management, Information Systems, and Operations Management. The pedagogy is case method coupled with other interventions such as role-plays, lectures, films, quizzes and business simulation exercises. There are 360 students undergoing this programme.
DIPLOMA PROGRAMME IN MANAGEMENT
TAn ideal programme that covers all-important areas of business management in just three trimesters and provides excellent opportunities for personality development. There are three specializations in this programme viz.: Diploma in Business Management, Diploma in Human Resources Management and Diploma in Financial Management. The programme is completed in a year and there are 120 students undergoing this programme.
Open & Customized MDP Programmes
School of Business Management of SVKM’s NMIMS Deemed-to-be University has been offering Management Development Programmes to organizations across various sectors. These programmes are of the duration of 1-5 days on management topics relevant to the industry. The programmes are conducted by highly experienced faculty members as well as practioners from industry. The MDP Calendar for the current year 2010-2011 is attached herewith. Programme For Executives (MPE)
TCS – E- Serve
NMIMS offers PGDBA – Post Graduate Diploma in Business Administration, customized for employees working with e-Serve International Ltd. The programme offers specialization in the area of Marketing, Finance and Human Resources Management. The pedagogy is interactive and largely based on case studies, supplemented by lectures, group activity, workshops, projects and presentations handled by experienced full-time, visiting faculty and guest speakers from academia and industry. The students get specialized reading material and handouts for all the subjects and have access to well stocked library and computer lab. The course covers 30 subjects and one project is spread across six semesters. The lectures are scheduled on Saturdays from 2pm to 6.30pm and on Sundays from 9.30am to 4.30pm. The programme has four batches with a batch size of about 60 students. The Programme covers 24 courses and various workshops spread over 4 trimesters with a time frame of 22 months. ICICI Prudential – Post Graduate Diploma in Insurance & Management
ICICI Prudential Life Insurance Company Ltd. has partnered with NMIMS to bring you India’s 1st Post Graduate Diploma in Insurance & Management. All successful students will be directly appointed as Executive Trainees with ICICI Prudential Life The course is designed on a trimester framework focusing on intensive management curriculum and domain expertise on risk management and financial planning. Practical skills along with sufficient academic rigor have been built into the program structure. The duration of which is 1 year. The program will culminate in a 2 month internship with ICICI Prudential Life which will give students an opportunity to apply the learnt skills to the workplace. The course covers 21 subjects across three trimesters. The lectures are scheduled on weekdays. The programme has one batch with a batch size of 20 students approximately.
Mercedes – Benz – E MBA Program
Mercedes-Benz has joined hands with the Narsee Monjee Institute of Management Studies (NMIMS), a premier B-school in India, to offer an Executive – MBA programme to its employees This is a 3 year long week-end course, customized for working professionals of Mercedes – Benz at Pune. It is meant to enrich learning, develop competencies and enhance the job performance of its employees. The program conducted every Friday & Saturday at Mercedes – Benz, Pune has six semesters and has six subjects per semester. The classroom content per subject is around 24 hours with additional support being provided in form of customized notes and reading materials. There are 27 participants in this programme
ARMED FORCES PROGRAMME: 2008-09 – POST GRADUATE CERTIFICATE IN BUSINESS ADMINISTRATION PROGRAMME
The Ministry of Defence has initiated resettlement policy with an objective to provide smooth “Career Transition” to Armed Forces Officers who are either short services officers, seeking premature retirement or leave on superannuation. Amongst the top B-Schools of the country, NMIMS is one of the major contributors in achieving the objective of career transition. After successful conduct and 100% placement of the first two batches, the third batch has 57 Defence Officers from Army, Navy & Air Force Program Objectives are enhancing the professional competence of participants in different areas of management, developing a general management perspective from the standpoint of a total enterprise, developing a global mindset to foster a comprehensive understanding of private sector working and developing appropriate attitudes to enable participants to transit into a second career and be effectively absorbed in the corporate world. The course is spread over a period of six months full time. There are around 24 subjects across four terms. This program is meant for officers from the army, navy & the airforce and officers are selected and nominated by Director General (Resettlement) Ministry of Defence. 57 participants have completed this programme.
E-MBA IN PHARMA MANAGEMENT- FOR DR. REDDY’S LAB
The school has developed an MBA (Executive – Pharma Management) Programme for Dr Reddys which offers unique opportunities to executives of Dr Reddys to learn from a diverse and skilled faculty and enjoy the benefit of innovative curriculum, pedagogy and the environment. The faculty brings in the rich experience of the industry and the academic to the classroom for sharing and learning. The programme is conducted at the premises of Dr Reddys, Hyderabad. The programme has 8 trimesters with 32 subjects spread over 3 years along with a final project. There are 50 participants in this programme.
MANAGEMENT PROGRAMME FOR EXECUTIVES -FOR JINDAL STEEL WORKS
This programme is designed to equip the employees / participants of Jindal steel works with integrated understanding of how business management operates through organization, process and functions. It covers core areas of business management. This not only enhances managerial effectiveness and efficiency of the organization, but also indirectly improves the participant’s career. The programme covers over 24 subjects spread over four trimesters in 20 months. The participants are also required to complete a year long application based industry project under the guidance of an experienced faculty / industry guide.
