Gemology is a comprehensive course wherein students are exposed to thousands of Rough & Polished gemstones for detailed study. This program covers Practical identification with huge stock of Precious, Semi - Precious, Organics and Rare Stones collections. Identification techniques using sophisticated Gemological equipments and techniques without equipments.

Module 1 :

• Introduction to the world of gemstones.

Module 2 :

• PHYSICAL PROPERTIES - Hardness, Cleavage, Specific Gravity and others.

• Practical Sessions.

Module 3 :

• OPTICAL PROPERTIES - Optical Property in detailed.

• Practical Sessions.

Module 4 :

• INSTRUMENTS USED FOR IDENTIFICATION OF GEMSTONES - Microscopes, Refractometer,

• Dichroscope, Polariscope, U.V. Light, S.G. Liquid, Hardness testing Instruments, 10X Loupe and others.

Module 5 :

• PRECIOUS STONE GROUPS - Ruby, Sapphire, Emerald, Alexandrite, Spinel & others.

Module 6 :

• SEMI-PRECIOUS STONE GROUPS (SPECIES).

• Flourspar, Tourmaline, Garnet, Jade, Opal, Lapis lazulli, Sphene, Spodumene, Topaz,

• Peridot, Turquoise, Zircon, Zoisite, Diamond, Quartz, Feldspar & others.

• Completely Practical Sessions.

• ORGANICS - Amber, Coral, Jet, Pearls.

• RARESTONES COLLECTIONS.

Duration

On Campus:

6 weeks daily, 2 Hrs (Monday to Friday).
3 weeks daily, 4 Hrs (Monday to Friday).

One month for studying the Grading manual and preparing for the examination. Approach the institute for 10 days of practical session on campus which is compulsory as per the curriculum. On the last day of the practical session examination would be conducted. 10 days practical session daily 6 hrs

15 days daily for 5 hrs in the city where the batch is been registered and conducted.
