Gemmology course is a comprehensive study, comprising of the formation of gemstones in the crust of the earth, their crystal system, physical, optical and chemical properties, identification of all types of gemstones, synthesis of various gemstones and their identification from natural counterparts. The study also covers various commercial and qualitative aspects such as the occurrences, importance of origin, fashioning, treatments and identification, marketing etc. The programme includes extensive practical training for identifying gemstones using 10x lens and highly sophisticated and advanced gemological equipments. Field trip, factory visits, assignments, project work, etc. form part of the course.
