B.Sc Fashion Technology

Fashion Technology has been introduced as a course under fashion design concept to generate and shape up the career of individuals who are creative and really willing to be a fashion designer in today's market of fashion business. Fashion and apparel industries are growing very fast due its increasing demand of products among the fashion conscious people. As apparel industries have revealed its remark in producing new and creative products and always aim to meet the challenge. Due to its challenging nature of work, it requires creative mind to enhance the productivity and meet up the requirements to the next level.

The course structure of Fashion Technology has been introduced to the students to apply with the basic knowledge of design and technology in terms of clothing (apparel). The course has been designed after studying the requirements of fashion and apparel industries. The students will be trained under the similar working condition of fashion and apparel industries where they will be guided by the faculty and real professional and designers. As this course, fashion Technology requires both understanding of design elements and technical ideas, thus for this purpose, students will be undergoing with various design concepts and theories and computer applications. Students will learn to create design and produce apparel both manually and using computer aided design (CAD) system. Along with this, they will study about industrial manufacturing processes and learn to predict fashion market.

Eligibility:

For Bachelor degree, 10+2 Passed/Appearing candidates are eligible and for Master degree, graduate (any discipline) candidates are eligible. Students who are seeking for Diploma course, their minimum qualification is 10th pass from any recognized board or equivalent to matriculation system.

Course outline:

Fashion Technology has been introduced with basic concepts and knowledge in fashion and its businesses. This course provides industry oriented knowledge methodology with technical understanding and professional skills.

The first semester offers basic modules of learning to provide a foundation on designing. Accordingly these are modules on Drafting & Pattern making, Fashion sketching, Textile studies, Computer fundamental with communication and soft skills are sharpened throughout the semester.

The second semester provides them to build up the core knowledge and skills on designing and its various technicalities to enhance their ability with modules like Fabric studies, Traditional Indian textiles, Fashion illustration & appreciation with portfolio development.

The third semester follows the innovation and understanding of new creation to enhance their professional ability with modules like Construction studies of innovative garments, Fashion history, Computer graphics & Fashion designing and Fashion presentation.

In the fourth Semester the students will be prepared for Industry internship with the analysis of best practices in the area of design and technical aspect of manufacturing processes comprise production planning & control, product analysis, quality control and CAD/CAM development.

In the fifth semester the students will be performing on individual projects undertaken by mentors which integrates and applies all learning from the program.

In the sixth semester which is also a final semester students will be undergoing with professional projects with modules like Fashion merchandising, International Marketing, Entrepreneurship and survey & projects.

The final year students participate in fashion show to showcase their final collection as a fashion designer.
