Why FLAME

At FLAME, we understand curiosity and knowledge are a potent mix. But in today’s fast changing world, if today’s students have to become tomorrow’s leaders, they need more. We seek diversity in both faculty resources and student profiles because we aim to create leaders who are unafraid in undertaking different roles rather than becoming a managerial rung in the corporate ladder.

Liberal Roots
We know one can touch the sky only if one starts at the roots. Which is why, FLAME is anchored in the concept of liberal education. Education that doesn’t just teach, it enlightens and opens the mind with a multitude of programs across various areas such as marketing, finance, organizational behavior, business policy, strategy, operations management, humanities, social sciences, creative arts, sports, music, theatre, advertising, film & television, broadcast journalism, new media and dance.

Being rooted in liberal education, FLAME focuses on broadening students’ perspectives by offering students courses in a range of disciplines - from pure sciences to humanities and social sciences to performance studies. Our fundamental aim is to expose students to different analytical frameworks and enable them to think critically through any issue. Most often teachers rely on the Socratic dialectical method, which emphasizes learning through questions and discussions rather than lectures. Students are free to choose between courses offered by all four FLAME schools (FSB, FSC, FSLE and FSPA). This freedom results in intellectual interactions between our PG and UG students. A post-graduate student of business, an undergraduate student of physics, a post graduate student of journalism, and an undergraduate student of theatre could be sitting together in a philosophy class, interacting with each other.

Holistic Development
FLAME aims to create a genuinely well-rounded student with holistic development. We encourage and develop leadership abilities that help students look at context scientifically, take decisions more critically, and transcend mere knowledge into socially conscious decisions that matter.

Renowned national and international faculty
Our Faculty often collaborates well beyond the boundaries of their core research, embracing the value of multiple approaches to problem- solving, teaching and the creation of knowledge.

Nurturing Minds
We equip students with conceptual and interpersonal skills that help them to respond effectively to the fast-changing world. Apart from nurturing curiosity and creativity within a student, we nurture standards for professional excellence, integrity, honesty and fairness.

Participative learning
We are an innovative school that has transformed education with practice-oriented programs, where students aren’t passive passengers in the journey of knowledge, but also active drivers. FLAME believes in and encourages participative learning. FLAME’s faculty encourages students to question, to probe and to continuously challenge given norms and exceed them.

Contextual teaching with practical relevance
FLAME believes in contextual teaching with practical relevance. We have managed to develop a curriculum that will broaden student’s leadership skills. We have a strong commitment to the value of diversity and an entrepreneurial mindset. We aim to create leaders, not just managers.

Interface with Industry
Training and developmental activities at FLAME introduces students to the industry, helping them understand and tackle problems of the real world in real time. By interacting with industry professionals, students stay informed with the fast changing world outside of the campus.
