Overview, Content & Syllabus

The use of All-Ceramic veneers represent a valid alternative to complete crown restorations. The minimally invasive tooth preparation procedure allows the maximum preservation of healthy tooth structure thus guaranteeing vitality and a higher overall resistance of the restoration also thanks to the undeniable advantages offered by the adhesive cementation technique.

Nowadays a new clinical approach based on an innovative minimally invasive prosthetic procedure (MIPP) also applicable to full crown restorations allows preservation of vitality and tooth structure. The availability of a wide range of ceramic material (glass ceramic, alumina and zirconia) permits the achievement of excellent, long lasting esthetic result even for extended bridges and ceramic abutments on implants.

Need To Study Fixed Prosthodontics: Rationale Of The Course

Today, a large proportion of the aging population is motivated to “stay young”. Besides alluding to physical fitness and attractiveness, this attitude also includes the maintenance of a functional and cosmetically appealing dentition. In this context, losing one or several teeth is a traumatic event and many people experience difficulties in coming to terms with their loss. The immediate consequences of tooth loss are functional (the person is unable to chew or speak properly) as well as cosmetic (facial appearance is adversely affected). In the long term, tooth loss often impairs the person’s self-image, emotional balance, and overall quality of life.

The main purpose of our fixed prothodontic course is to raise professional dentists who can correctly diagnose prosthodontic needs, understand and treat patients, in respect to function and esthetics.

New materials can make significant changes in the way dentistry is practiced. Recent advances in adhesive resin technology have had, and will continue to have, a profound effect on fixed prosthodontics. Without denying the importance of material and patient variables, the operator and the skill that must be applied in selecting and treating prosthodontic patients is by far the most important. The best materials available today can be misused

and fail. No one can successfully place a prosthodontic restoration without the patient's cooperation in maintaining it.

The aim of this program is to teach a step-by-step approach that will help the clinician to confidently select the most appropriate all-ceramic material according to the prosthetic treatment of choice and specifically for veneers, crowns and bridges restorations. An in-depth knowledge of the different optical and mechanical properties of glass-ceramics and high-strength ceramics, as well as the application of new minimally invasive techniques is today the key to achieve a predictable esthetic result. This course will help to learn through a combination of intensive comprehensive theory and practical sessions (through case discussion, phantom jaw and while treating

the patients- subject to availability), which will expand the clinical vision and knowledge. Success of prosthesis largely depends on the quality of laboratory work, so this course will mark the key areas to look upon and to supervise and guide the lab technician.

To achieve predictable success in this technically exacting and demanding field, there must be meticulously attention to every detail from initial patient interview and diagnosis, through the active treatment phases, and to a planned schedule of follow up care. We ensure you learn all this and more.
