Footwear Design & Development Institute popularly known as FDDI was set up by the Ministry of Commerce, Government of India in the year 1986 with an objective to provide human resource and technical services to the industry. In just a span of two decades FDDI has evolved from being India’s premier institute to a notable International Training Institute. FDDI is among the first institute in the world to get prestigious ISO 9001 and ISO 14001 certification.
The institute conducts wide range of professional programmes in the area Footwear Design, Fashion Design, Leather Design, CAD/CAM, Retail Management and Business Management. The programmes are of two to five year duration.

Q: Please explain me in detail about the programmes offered by FDDI?
A: FDDI is offering a wide range of UG, PG and 5 yrs Integrated programmes in the field of Footwear Design, Fashion Design, Leather Design, CAD/CAM, Retail Management and Business Management. The detail about the programmes is as under:
Q: How many campuses you have and please tell me the location of the campuses?
A: We have eight campuses all over India – Noida, Fursatganj, Chennai, Kolkata, Rohtak, Chhindwara Jodhpur and Guna.
Q: What is your eligibility criterion? Explain me in detail?
A: The eligibility criteria are as follows:
• UG Programmes – minimum 45% in 10+2, PG Programmes – minimum 45% in Graduation
• Eligible candidates have to undergo an All India Selection Test (AIST) that consists of Math, English, reasoning/General science, GK and Business Aptitude.
• Candidates attempted CAT/MAT/XAT/AIMA/JMET/NMAT/AMCAT/SNAP/GMAT/AIM-CAT are eligible for exemption from appearing in the written test of FDDI.
• They may also have the option to appear for FDDI written test. In that case the best of two exams i.e. CAT/MAT/XAT etc or FDDI written exam will be considered for the merit of selection.
• The common merit list of written test will be prepared for candidates appeared in the written test of FDDI and applied under CAT & MAT category. Accordingly, shortlisted candidates will be called for counseling.
Procedure to be followed
Step 1: Purchase of Admission Form. (Cost of Prospectus along with the admission form is Rs 500/-)

Date of Entrance exam– 14TH, 15TH AND 16TH June 2013
Result Declaration – First week of July
Date of Counseling for PG Programmes – 8th & 9th July 2013
Date of Counseling for UG Programmes - 10th, 11TH & 12th July 2013
Session begins – 1st week of August 2013
Q: Do you have any Sponsorship category for admission seekers?
A: 15% seats are reserved for industry sponsored candidates. Industry sponsoring such candidates will be required to pay 50% extra than the normal fee. FDDI will not be responsible for Industry internship & placement of such candidates.
Q: Is there any Scholarship scheme for FDDI students?
A: The institute offers scholarship to the meritorious/poor/under privileged students enrolled in various programmes at FDDI as per guidelines of the institute. Fee concession is also granted every year to the needy students as per our policy.
Q: What are the career options after getting the degree/certificate from FDDI?
A: The footwear industry is set to boom with bright career opportunities in technical, design and management areas. The Indian Corporate along with foreign multinationals in this industry has made it possible to look forward to exciting employment options. As far as career growth and progression is concern it is purely performance based and there is no limit to what one can achieve.
Q: Is there any reservation for SC/ST & PWD Candidates?
A: Institute reserves 15% seats for Scheduled Caste (SC), 7.5% seats for Scheduled Tribe (ST) and 27% seats for OBC (non-creamy) candidates in each programme in both sponsored as well as non-sponsored category. 3% seats are reserved for physically handicapped students in each programme as per the persons with Disability Act 1995. Such candidates should submit the disability certificate issued by medical board notified by State/ Central authority certifying their disability as 40% or more.
Q: What is the process for refund of fee in case of cancellation of Admission?
A: In case of withdrawal of admission, refund will be made as below:
• Before Commencement of classes 50% of Tuition Fee + Security Deposit
• After Commencement of classes Only Security Deposit
