B) Personality Test: Objective is to assess the personal suitability of the candidate for a career in Civil Services by a board of competant and unbiased observers.
Note: Papers of Indian Language & English are of matriculation level & qualifying in nature. Marks obtained in these papers are not counted in tally.

Aspirant can choose any language mentioned in the eighth schedule of the constitution of lndia as a medium of Answer [e.g, Marathi] and that means excellent command over English is not mandatory to become I.A.S.

From year 2007 negative marking is introduced in preliminary examinalion. For every wrong answer marked by candidate 1 /3rd (33%) of the marks assigned to the question will be deducted as penalty.
