About Institute
Academy of Creative Arts City Pulse Academy of Creative Arts The promoters of City Pulse conceived of an Academy which was created under a trust titled City Pulse Educational Charitable Trust (Regd.) that would be autonomous and would function as a center for excellence in imparting knowledge on the Film, Television, Performing Arts and Visual Arts. Infrastructure at the campus has been planed to start the following institutes in: Film and Television: i.e. City Pulse Institute of Film & Television Performing Arts: i.e. City Pulse Institute of Performing & Visual Arts These Institutes will not only cultivate skills but also to imbue fresh, young minds with basic concepts of a value-based education that remains long after the training is over. City Pulse Academy of Creative Arts is different from a regular organisation in its philosophy, culture and structure, which permeates down to all faculty, staff and students. It does not comprise solely the infrastructure, equipment or building, but is primarily made up of the teachers and those who are taught. The rest only makes up the support system. The emphasis is on all-round cerebral growth; not confined to a particular skill, but to all affiliated arts like Music, Dance, Drama, Painting and Sculpture for which teaching infrastructure already exists. What has been created, subsequently, is a comprehensive support system and an integrated intellectual base, not usually found in most institutes. Organisation of CPIFT City Pulse Institute of Film & Television is an autonomous body set up by City Pulse Educational Charitable Trust (Regd.) The Institute will be guided by a Governing Council constituted by inviting eminent people from Film and Television industry, representing various disciplines of film direction, script writing, acting, cinematography, music direction and film production management, marketing, film journalism and the allied fields like performing arts & architecture. The day-to-day working of the Institute is guided by a Managing Committee appointed by City Pulse Educational Charitable Trust (Regd.) in consultation with Governing Council of CPIFT. The Institute is headed by the Director who will look after the academic and administrative management. Each discipline has a Head of the Department, and is aided by an eminent professional in his/her respective discipline. There shall be a pool of visiting faculty constituting prominent professionals in different areas of film making. The main criteria for selecting the Permanent and Visiting Faculty are bright professionals who can inspire students and undertake academic programmes while continuing their own professional activities. More than the organisation and infrastructure, it is the faculty and the students who will make this Institute a centre of excellence. Education The Institute has consciously adopted a policy of graduation as the minimum qualification for entry, except for its Bachelor’s Degree course in Acting as it believes that a graduate has a certain grounding and understanding of society, culture and human behavior which is an essential base to begin training at the CPIFT. Mastering the Visual Medium India, has a limited number of institutes providing visual media specific education in Film & Television. Most institutes teach about or for the medium of television and expect the students to adapt the teaching for film making. The format and scale of the two are entirely different, and hence, at CPIFT, specialised training is given in both separately. Contemporary Teaching Methods A large number of guests and visiting faculty from the industry will provide continuous and practical inputs. Courses are designed by renowned professionals with outstanding contributions in their respective fields and as per the norms of an University. The Institute also offers training in FM and radio technology, an emerging industry, as a part of the course in Audiography. Film education does not deal with just cinema in isolation but an ambience of art, culture, music, theatre, painting etc. is integrated into the process. These activities nurture a student's intellect, thus making his or her education value-based. The teaching methodology utilises multiple approaches, so that students from the Institute are easily absorbed in the very competitive entertainment industry. The Indian Film and Television industry, initially was unorganised and had a dearth of talented and qualified professionals. Today, the Indian Film industry is the largest in the world and the Television industry has grown leaps and bounds and has many corporate entities investing in it. It employs nearly 30 lakh people. CPIFT at Gandhinagar, the capital city of Gujarat, shall do its part in nurturing Fresh talent interested in entering this sunrise industry. Right Ambience Innovative and exciting - just like our students - the Institute will transform the learning environment into lessons in practical and applicable knowledge. The Institute with the latest equipment used in the industry as a part of its teaching techniques, shall help advance the students into the digital era. We shall mould students, raise the bar and set new standards for the world's largest and most vibrant film industry. CPIFT also conducts various short term programmes which are tailor-made specially for the professionals who are already working in the industry and wish to upgrade their skills. The Institute aims to infuse trained fresh talent into the industry and to provide these young professionals with the requisite skills to succeed in their chosen field. |
