The Athena School of Management's next batch for the Post Graduate Programme in Management (PGPM) + MBA (UGC Recognised) at its Mumbai Campus starts in June – July 2013.
The (PGPM) + MBA (UGC Recognised) focuses on creating future corporate leaders. The two year programme will be one of intense education, interlocution, introspection and discovery, at the end of which the student will emerge as a leader keenly taking decisions, actions and initiatives and achieving organizational goals “by wisdom and courage”
We follow an end user based design and structure for our courses. The course content is designed based on input and interface from the corporate sector. A high percentage of our visiting Faculty are from the corporate sector. We believe that this high level of exposure and training by luminaries of the corporate world would extensively prepare our students to meet the future challenges.
The pedagogy and class room delivery style is case study and project driven rather than a traditional teacher – student monologue. This places students in real life business scenarios where they need to take decisions in real-time.
In a world where in most cases there are no rights and wrongs, our faculty will act as directing staff who will act as interlocutors and facilitators for the students so as to help them develop into responsible future managers who can make decisions and take accountability and consequences associated for the same.
There are several specialist sub modules in our courses which include subjects such as Visual Merchandising, Risk Management, Lifestyle Design, Corporate Communications, Mass Affluency Dynamics, Situational Strategy & Awareness, Product Delivery Management, to name a few.

Programme Highlight
At Athena, our focus is on moulding our students into future corporate leaders. Our students are trained to take various factors into consideration including theory, talent, data, experience, skill and situational awareness and focus all of them into a decision – an action taking into account the consequences and results emanating from it.
The Case Study Method
In today’s dynamic business world, the boundaries between the correct and incorrect courses of action and decisions are blurring to a point of disappearing. There are no simple solutions, just actions and decisions which result in consequences. At Athena, we encourage and develop the ability of our students to make decisions.
A large proportion of our class room teaching is done through case studies and projects. In this process the students, individually or in groups, are given business case studies based on real life decisions. They are then asked to provide answers and solutions and also present the reasons and rationale behind their decisions. This encourages team work, courage to ask tough questions, an ability to take into account multiple factors and the character to make decisions and stand accountable for the results and consequences.
Corporate Interface
Most of our students will be associated with the corporate sector after finishing their courses. Some as eEmployees, others as partners and vendors and still others as part of the social and& other sectors. In such a scenario, it is important that they understand the corporate culture sector and gain exposure to it att the earliest.
At Athena, Corporate Interface is he cornerstone of our Post Graduate Programme in Management. Right from design of the course based on corporate inputs, till having a large proportion of visiting faculty from the corporate sector, we aim to give the corporate touch to our students. This is further manifested by the Summer Internships during which each one of our students will intern with a leading corporate house to understand how they work and get a first hand and real world experience of working in the corporate sectors.
As part of our course structure, frequent visits to industrial hubs and service units are planned, so that students can relate to and understand about the cornerstones of our economy. Monthly seminars with leading corporate leaders are organised so that our students can gain from the wisdom and experience of these leaders and be inspired to achieve the same heights of success themselves.
Career Development Services
At Athena, we place a high premium in making our students “employable high value assets” for the corporate sectors. Our Career Development Services team focuses on frequent interaction with organisations to understand the rapidly changing internal situations and hence their evolving needs and requirements for talent.
International Exposure
In the modern world where borders are becoming increasingly irrelevant vis-à-vis trade and commerce, international exposure for our students is extremely important. As part of this initiative, students will be taken for a study tour to a foreign country in order to understand how businesses operate in a foreign environment and culture. The visit includes visits to industries, corporate houses, local cultural landmarks and partner institutions.
Corporate Social Responsibility
Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) is a key component in every organisations plans to give back to society. Our Students too will be part of the Rotaract Club (the youth wing of Rotary International) through which they shall engage in community service, vocational service, etc.
Extra Curricular Activities & General Exposure
We look forward to engaging our students in extra curricular activities and general exposure. They range from compulsory foreign language classes, yoga & meditation, Grooming & Lifestyle sessions, Trekking, Adventure Sports, Ballroom Dancing to visits to Naval Warships, Defence Establishments, Scientific Laboratories, Movie Studios, etc.
