A passionate promoter of creativity and commitment, institution builder and management guru par excellence, Prof. Biswajeet Pattanayak has been much acclaimed for championing the cause of world class management education in a progressive state like Odisha.
Dr. Biswajeet Pattanayak is the Group Director of ASBM, a dream he had nurtured all through a powerful two decade career of being a transformation leader for business education. ASBM has been highlighted by Business India, b-school special issue in October 2006 as “a world class business school modelled after the best IIMs set up in 180 days”.
Today ASBM has created a niche of its own by being recognised as an acclaimed quality institution in the country. It has in its ambit Asian School of Business Management, Bhubaneswar; ASBM Institute of BBA, Bhubaneswar; ASBM Finishing School and ASBM Centre for Distance Education with student strength of more than twelve hundred within a span of seven years. ASBM has emerged as one of the strongest national brands in management education.
Prof. Pattanayak has a very successful career span with distinct leadership positions like Vice Chancellor of KIIT University and Director, Indian Institute of Bank Management (IIBM), Guwahati - an institution of Reserve Bank of India (RBI).
He was a Professor in the area of Human Resource Management & Organizational Behaviour and Chair Person of HR Area in Indian Institute of Management (IIM), Indore. He attained the full Professorship of IIM at the early age of 35 only which is a rare record by itself. He also had the rare distinction of becoming the Director of a national institute at the age of 37 years only. He has also worked with Steel Authority of India Limited, National Institute of Industrial Engineering (NITIE), Mumbai, Indian Institute of Management, Lucknow and ESSAR Group.
Dr. Pattanayak left all these coveted positions to pursue his dream of creating an IIM out of a private business school to give the platform to all the meritorious students across the country.
He is a Ph.D. and D.Litt. in Organizational Behaviour, D. Sc. in Management Sciences and Fellow of All India Management Association (AIMA), New Delhi. Many scholars have been awarded Ph.D. under his able guidance and supervision. He has successfully completed eleven research projects funded by Ministry of HRD, Govt. of India and various industries.
He has more than 80 Research Publications in National and International referred Journals and 19 books to his credit. Some of his popular books are Human Resource Management, Good Me Bad Me, Change for Growth, Re-engineering OB, Corporate HRD, Life in Organisation, Human Resource Training & Creating Performing Organisation: An International Perspective of Indian Management published by well-known publishers like Prentice Hall, Sage, Excel Books etc. The book "Creating Performing Organisation' has been a global best seller of Amazon.com. His papers are regularly published in reputed international journals like Organisation Development Journal (USA), HRD International (UK), International Journal of Psychology (UK), International Journal of HRD & Management (UK) etc. He has presented a number of papers and also Chaired sessions both in National and International Conferences.
He has conducted a large number of Management Development Programs and consultancy assignments for reputed Public, Private and Multinational Companies, including the World Bank. He has recently been awarded with the Shiridi Ratna Award as an Outstanding Educationist by Shiridi Sai Mission in 2011. He was also honoured with citation by noted award winning writers Mr. Amitav Ghosh and Mrs. Shobhaa De on behalf of the Arya Vedant Society for his seminal contribution to the field of management. He is also the recipient of “Decaan Herald Award for Best Teacher in Management, 2008”, “Dewang Mehta Award for Best Professor in HRM by Dewang Mehta Foundation, 2008”, "Decan Herald Best Teacher in HR & OB Award, 2005", "Rashtriya Shiksha Ratan Award" of AIBDA, New Delhi, “President of India Award”, "SRUJANI Creativity Award of SAIL”, “SULZER Man of IE National Award in Human Resource” of NITIE and “Career Award” of AICTE.
He is the advisor, Board of Research of American Biographical Institute, North Carolina, and Member of American Psychological Association (APA), and “Ambassador & Area Chair – Eastern India” of International Council of Psychologist (ICP). Also he is the life member of AIMA, ISTD, Indian Science Congress, Indian Society for Applied Behavioural Science and NIPM. Professor Pattanayak is an expert panel member of All India Council of Technical Education, National board of accreditation Govt. of India and Peer team Assessor of NAAC, University Grants Commission. He is also on the Board of Speenovation Solutions Ltd. as a Director. Dr. Pattanayak has been honoured for his pioneer work through citation in 'Reference India', 'Indo-European who's who', 'Asian-American who's who', 'Asia Pacific who's who', 'World who's who', 'Biography International' and 'Asia – Men and women of achievement'. In 2008, Dr. Pattanayak has achieved the rare distinction having been placed among the Top 100 Educators in the World, 2008 by IBC, Cambridge, England.
